Why?
That is, I’m not seeing a pattern here.

[shrug] A Libertarian candidacy is always a bad joke, even compared to Ralph Nader’s.
OK. I’ll try.
McGovern: It was 1972. I was in the Army. He was going to “bring the boys home.”
Carter: His military and educational background.
Reagan: He wasn’t Carter
Mondale: This one is the outlier. He was a homie.
Bush 1: The Regan years had been pretty good to me. I figured he would continue this.
Perot: The bloom was off the rose. I liked some of Perot’s ideas. He didn’t talk like a politician.
Clinton: Times were good. I could live with him. Really disliked him at the end.
Bush 2[sup]1[/sup]: He had been a governor, and had business experience. Gore seemed too, well, strident.
Bush 2[sup]2[/sup]: Still pissed about 9/11. Bush seemed stronger foreign-policy wise.
McCain: I didn’t think Obama was qualified for the job.
He would have, too. Sooner than '74.
That was the same reason my liberal Dad voted for Nixon in '68 (he was in Vietnam at the time) and persuaded my Mom to do the same (she never forgave him).
So basically you’re an independent thinker who doesn’t follow any standard party line.
And you probably chafe at the idea that people assume you, and people like you, are some kind of political party stooge.
But I’m just guessing.
I like to think so.
Nobody can take my vote for granted.
Good guess.
The problem is, with this election, I don’t think that either candidate will be able to accomplish much due to the make up of the Congress.
It’s obvious that the current members of Congress are incapable of working together. We either need to remove the Progress Democrats or the Olde Tyme Republicans or both.
I have no problem letting an entire new batch of Repsentatives and Senators take a shot at correcting this countries problems.
You get my vote.
I think we’ve already learned that term limits ain’t gonna fly.
I’m not in favor of term limits. My ballot is my term limit.
As a practical matter, it can never happen, because an illegal alien will never be able to prove that he has paid 40 quarters into the system. Even a 50th generation citizen would be disqualified on that basis.
As a legal matter, it will never happen. The Supreme Court has drawn a strong distinction between people and citizens, because most of the constitution only mentions the latter. SCOTUS has only ever applied constitutional protections - other than those governing criminal proceedings - to citizens and legal aliens. The exception is the right of children to an education, since they are obviously blameless.
THANK YOU! I think the cap on payroll should be removed and ALL income (caugh capital gains) should be subject to it.
When there are people who risk actual death to vote, it is a sad thing to not vote. Even if your vote won’t change the outcome, your voice would be heard.
Romney isn’t just a Mormon who attended services, he was a leader in LDS. So, yes I do think his religion is a factor and, honestly, it is a bit creepy when some are pointing to him as the prophesied White Horse. ( White Horse Prophecy - Wikipedia ). I’ve worked with Mormons and recently ex-Mormons. Judging by the people I’ve been exposed to, the LDS has a very strong control over their followers. And the deeper the follower has gotten, the deeper that control factor is. So, with Romney as an ex-leader who is still Mormon, that is very scary to me. Scary enough that I, as a registered Republican since 18yo, prior military, prior intel support, am voting against Romney.
What…someone couldn’t live and work in the US for 10 years?
I was referring to how I view the President’s latest action, and I’m incredulous as to both the statements he’s made regarding citizenship as well as the latent effects of that action.
Nevermind. I see what you meant now.
Contradictions.
I was referring to campaign finance reform. But as a result of the recent SCOTUS ruling, that one will move to the back burner.
In one sense, being in a noncontested state has its blessings. Not as much money will be spent here, therefore fewer campaign ads.
I’m sure I’ll see plenty of Bachmann coverage, though. She’s up for re-election.
Rysdad, you voted for Perot? At last! I’ve found someone else who voted for him! Actually, I like the vice presidential candidate too, Stockdale. Lot of folks made fun of him after the debate, but I liked that he could give short, simple, direct answers to questions. Not like those smarmy idiots Gore and Quayle.
When asked his position on abortion rights Stockdale replied “I believe that what a woman does with her own body is her business. Period.” When the debate monitor shifted his shoulders as if to say “That’s IT?” Stockdale repeated “Period.” Hell, whether you agreed with the man or not at least you could pin down where he stood.
We would glady have her move to your district.
Gotta spread the crazy around.
Batshit crazy that is.
Even a blind pig/squirrel/etc. finds an acorn sometimes. Old saying.
He didn’t. Rick Warren spoke.
