Today was tedium. We had some training in the morning that was pretty good, but the woman doing the presentation had a lot of verbal quirks, and it got to where that’s all I heard. Then I ended the day with some on-line training on security. Beyond tedium!! I was reading a lot of blogs while the stoopit training ran in the background.
Supper is an invention. I sliced up a steak and cooked it up with onions in a pan. Then I dumped some leftover gravy, some worcestershire, and a coupla splashes of wine into the mix, turned the heat way down, covered, and left it to simmer. Steamed some rice. Gonna steam some broccoli. Supper.
Class tonight will be a challenge. Spring break starts next week, so whatever I do can’t be expected to stay moist till my next class. So I have to finish something that can dry. I think I know what I’m going to do.
This weekend looks to have el-sucko weather. No idea if we’ll be able to scrub the boat or not. Plus they’re calling for snow tomorrow. ugh. How much longer till spring??
Off to finish supper, then change for class. Catch ya tomorrow! MWAH!
Dotty, I don’t suppose you can send your Housework Fairy over this way if she has any downtime? I’m positively swimming my jealousy right now.
Just about done for the day. Wooooooo! And it’s not pitch black outside. More woooooo!
As an aside, I really should stop going for walks on N.O.L. because they’re getting rather expensive. :smack: Today I ended up buying two pairs of shoes* and a new summer hat to replace the one I lost a few months ago.
OK, time for home. ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
I can justify it, though! One of them was this pair of Fly London pumps for a whopping $40, I’d have been stupid not to… and the other pair of Madden Girls were necessary because I need a comfy pair of dressy shoes since I’m playing photographer for a friend’s daughter’s one-month party.
Howdy Y’all! It’s my Firday!!! Weekend… YAAAAAAAAAY!!!
Of course I’ll be busier than a termite in a saw mill. Tomorrow I must do sump’n about da cave yahd. It looks awful! Believe it or not, I really need to mow. So yahd werk will keep me occupied and out of trouble tomorrow pretty much. Saturday is our annual St. Patrick’s dinner at church. This entails da bear makin’ our traditional “Irish” stew, which is officially named, “It’s Irish Because We Say So Stew.” After work today I went and bought veggies for said stew. I bought copious amounts of N.O.T., N.O.C. (where the heck’s he been btw), onions, garlic and parsnips. I shall have to make another trip for more parsnips and to get some turnips because of all things, WallyWorld only had two bags of parsnips and no turnips. Imagine! I’m told there’ll be some tomorrow. Thus, I shall have to sojourn to WallyWorld again. I went there today and will go back because I can get the best prices on that stuff. So There!
On the plus side, there will be green beer Saturday.
That’s really funny, taxi. I’ve heard references to the Yarn Harlot (browsed a book or two, too, I think), but I don’t think I’ve ever read her blog before. Went back an older post on kinnearing and laughed until I cried.
The post about your grandma’s ring almost made me cry, kai. My grandma sent me one of her rings a couple of years before she died and I’ve been wearing it ever since. This is not as normal as it sounds. 1) She and I never had the same taste. She was a very flamboyant person who was happiest in loud busy prints, with large plastic jewelry. I prefer understated accessories. (Although I like colorful socks.) 2) She asked her home health aide to mail the ring to me. She folded it up in a piece of paper, put it in an envelope, stuck an Elvis stamp on it and told Doris to put it in the mail to me. 3) I almost never wear rings or bracelets. They get in my way.
So, one day, I open the envelope with the Elvis stamp and out falls a nice little gold ring with 4 little sapphires and 3 diamonds. I put it on and it fit and I’ve been wearing it ever since (going on 16 years). Doris was concerned someone would steal the ring. Grandma thought no one would believe that anyone would send the ring via regular mail. I love having a reminder of Grandma with me all the time.
Yes, there is snow in the forecast for tomorrow am…to the south of where I am so it’s entirely possible that there could be a dusting for FCM.
I was touched by your post about your Grandmom’s ring, kai; how nice of your Dad to send it to you now! I have a ring that my Mom passed to me before she died–she and my Dad had given it to her mother back in the early 60s, so it was really one of my Grandmother’s rings. It’s a cameo ring, carnelian, and I think of my Grandmom every time I wear it.
I appreciate the comments regarding grandma’s ring, it has been very emotional for me. I just sent my dad a letter, bawled my head off while I was writing it, too.
No doggio, there is no school because it’s Teacher’s Inservice, we truly do not get snow days. Today was also the last day of school before Spring Break, so I’ll have the monsters home until the 23rd. Yee and haw.
We just got a scrim of snow, which is fine by me! My Christmas cactus has been blooming non-stop since November, and I can’t wait to get my fingers in my flower beds! It’s 7:35 pm and still broad daylight, Spring is on it’s way!
I’m writing from a hotel in London town, but not using the hotel’s net cos they wanna rape my wallet at the tune of 3 quid per hour. Last year I got a thingee (dongle? sounds like a cross between a donkey and something that dangles, why do I get dirty mental images?) that lets me have internet-on-the-move and I’m using that.
Going to the LonDopeFest tomorrow Trying to figure out if I want to go to a museum or just do what I normally do in places like this, which is go for walkies and stop wherever I feel like it. I’m a horrible tourist.
I haven’t yet caught up on this thread, I am again just going to post and run, sorry but I have had 4 goats give birth to 8 kids in 48 hours and I just have no time!
Yesterday morning after my bus run I went to the barn just in time to see Belle give birth to her twins. Here is the video, but remember, it is an actual live birth, so I don’t know it it’s NSFW or not. You decide.Birthingvideo.
It is warming up, but the babies are still freezing, I had 3 moms and 6 babies in the house, yes my freaken house! But when its -42 and they are literally freezing, they need heat. Wednesday was no better, it was -30ish, so in the house they came.
Happy birthday, Nava!!!
Sorry. Too tired for fancy coding.
Thank goodness it’s Friday. QD is coming over for dinner, and I hope Attacks Husband is free this afternoon because hanging out with him on Fridays is now traditional. Also, QD wants to see him.
Speaking of Quasi-Daughter, she needs to go to Costco with me tomorrow because she volunteered to make homemade macaroni and cheese for forty people and needs the ingredients. It’s for his bible study group. I think she’s nuts. She admits she may have suffered some kind of strange brain-missing when she signed up.
doggio, you mess up grilled cheese by putting mayo in them and then burning them.
Thanks, GT - and I forgot to tell you how pretty your scarf and hat looked. I’m still stumbling about with my crocheting and haven’t been back to ravelry yet. I have trouble making heads or tails out of crochet directions, btw. Ah well, it will eventually come to me, I think.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAVA and HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY BOOFAE!!
FarmerChick, the nannies and kids are so cute! LOL Hoping that the nursery with the heat lamps works out okay; it looks good at least and the kids look good too.
Off to work. There is nothing like the smell of wet, farting dog in the morning.
gt, I’m cleaning up after hurricane Gordie, going to 3 hockey games, and helping the Booster Club host a tailgate for 200 Capitals fans on next Saturday.
I sent out my files for the week yesterday, which means I have absolutely nothing to do at work today except pick my nose and look pretty. And possibly take an extended lunch, assuming I can sweet-talk a coworker or two into joining me. Hurray.
Major Blurrrf this morning. I had a headache last night that would not quit until I got up at 2 am and took drugs. That killed going to the [del]vampires[/del] blood lab this morning. Quit-Effin-O’clock cannot come soon enough today.
Happy birthday to the girls and to chickie’s kids!!!
[whine voice]I wanna go to London![/wv]
It is so nice and warm here that I would love to take the afternoon off and fall asleep next to the pool. ::sigh:: But, NOOOOOOOOOOOO, I have to be here this afternoon to supervise a birthday cake party for one of the two account execs that I am really mad at now and probably forever.
crawls into the thread, exhausted to the point of collapse
Friday… Finally. No more exams til after spring break. No more anything til after spring break. Brain hurts.
Exa Status:
-Physics (Exam on Electrostatics): Made a dumb mistake on first problem. Correctly solved for electric field but failed to continue on and identify the magnitude of the source charge. S’what I get for not reading the question. Completely botched another question because I did not realize that an insulating sphere contained in a hollow conductive shell could be treated like a point charge for purposes of analyzing the charge on the surfaces of the shell; that one cost me six points on a 50-point exam. :smack::smack::smack:
-Thermodynamics: Bombed. Along with a not-insignificant portion of the class. Teacher just sucks; she’s on “probation” atm and would have been fired except there are apparently no other professors here to teach Thermo. Massive curve expected; even so, it sucked.
-Multicultural America: Confidence high. Felt like I either knew what I was talking about or was at least able to come up with plausible pseudointellectual bullshit when I didn’t. Expect good grade. Contray to the other two tests, I do not know for a fact that I got any questions wrong.
Actual grades unknown on all three exams.
Too tired to read back. Six hours of sleep in the last 72 hours. Hugs, boos, yays, whatever else you all need.
