Golden Globe nominations

List here(scroll down a bit).

As usual, several "huh?"s – The Tourist is a comedy? – and several movies that are just opening now (I’ve got some serious movie-going lined up for the next month or so).

I like that the Golden Globes always has some “WTF” nominations. Like Piper Perabo for Covert Affairs. I like the show and I like Perabo in it, but I would never have guessed she’d be nominated for a major award for it and I think there’s no way she’d get an Emmy nomination. Covert Affairs is just too lightweight a show to expect it to get any awards consideration. But good for her for this nom–I’ll bet she’s thrilled.

Likewise Scott Caan for Hawaii Five-0.

Lots of love for Glee.

I’m disappointed in no recognition for Community, the best comedy on TV.

I posted in the Oscars thread, but since this thread is dedicated to the Golden Globes, I’ll post this here too. It’s the movies only though, no TV nominees. Links are to the IMDB pages of the films.

I agree that the “Comedy” nominees are bizarre. They missed some pretty funny movies in favor of dramas/action/fantasy films with some humorous moments.

Ooh, Christina Aguilera is now a “Golden Globe nominee”. Amazing, I’m sure she’ll milk that for all it’s worth.

Does the award for Original Song go to just the writers or the writers and the performers? And most importantly, do they usually perform the nominated songs at the ceremony? Basically what I want to know is, is there a chance I will see Cher on that stage?

I have a feeling the Supporting Actor/Actress in musical or comedy TV show are going to be the same winners as at the Emmys, but I really want Sofia Vergara to get Supporting Actress.

Award goes to the writers, not the performers–and the Globes never perform the nominated songs. However, given the visibility of the award show (and Burlesque’s Picture nomination), I’d be willing to bet that Cher will be in the audience and C.Aguilera will probably be a presenter.

Damn. Oh well, I agree that Cher will probably be there and that means we get to see what ridiculous outfit she wears, which is surely the highlight of any award show that involves her in some way.

The Globes, as a TV show, are always a lot of fun. I’ll definitely be watching, Cher or no Cher.
