Goldman family buys O.J. book rights

Seriously? Why do you think that? He just needs three people to golf with, who probably pay his course fee to bask in his celebrity status for an afternoon. I hadn’t heard he was big into the social scene.

I heard (somewhere) that he goes to parties, etc. And his kids haven’t kissed him off, either…you’d think that since they’ve reached adulthood and have been able to read and process the information for themselves, they’d have walked. Maybe they’re scared.

Here’s an interesting article: ESPN.com - E-Ticket: Juice Unplugged

The mind boggles.

That IS creepy. The only comforting thought is that the vast majority of people are just too polite to approach him and “share” their disgust.

OTOH, I used to work with a guy who was later convicted of murder for hire. I’m not sure if I would sit down to lunch again with him, but I certainly wouldn’t go up to him and verbally assault him. It’s moot, I suppose, as he’ll be in prison for a long time.

How does he earn a living? Does he have enough socked away from retirement, movie careers and his stint in the NFL that he can golf for the rest of his life?

That’s what I want to know. Didn’t he claim he has no money to pay the Goldmans?

Count me in as one who thinks this is good kharma.

He has a very generous NFL pension that, for reasons beyond my understanding, is untouchable from lawsuits. I remember this being often repeated during the time of the Goldman civil case. IIRC it is something in California state law that protects pension income.

Actually, I think it’s pretty common for pensions to be off-limits to lawsuits. (I had a roommate who sued someone and he was told that if the gentleman he was suing retired, he’d be unable to collect anything.) The reason being that it’s the only possible source of income for someone who’s retired. The logic being that you don’t want to make someone indigent in the final years of their life. Mind you, I don’t think that the people who wrote the laws had the current circumstances in mind.

He also has an enormous home in Florida which for whatever reason is also untouchable.

Florida’s laws on this sort of thing are different from most other states. That’s precisely why he moved to Florida. All the dodges are legit. Too bad it couldn’t have been Alaska as the only state that offered him the shelters, huh?

If I were the Goldmans and had bought this, I would not publish it under a controversial name; I would just bury it. None of the things to which they bought the rights would see the light of day again. I think that would be better justice.

kalhoun, that was an interesting article. I don’t think we want to see both sides of a story when we feel so strongly about it, but I don’t think we do ourselves any favours pretending that another side doesn’t exist.

That article was written by an 18-year-old. Face it, OJ’s ultimately meaningless case only causes unbelievable angst to (white) Gen-Xers and older. I’m 24 and you all sound like nut-cases to me anytime OJ comes up. That’s the future.

I was impressed by this young reporters writing style. He is one to watch in the future.

The people who greet OJ like a rock star are the same morons who probably are true fans to Michael Jackson or Paris Hilton. Parasites.
