So, xtisme scores a point in GD for provoking Gonzomax to break the forum rules, while at the same time carefully skirting those same rules. Now there’s a Pit thread in which xtisme generously offers Gonzomax an opportunity to “get it off your chest.” Will Gonzomax rise to this bait as well? Well, wasn’t planning on writing to this thread again, but…
You should probably check again (try looking on the first page)…his first, um, contributions were a series of drive by posts. The one you picked was one of his LAST posts.
First or last, Terrifel’s general point seems a valid one. You seem to be baiting someone that you feel is below you intellectually into a meltdown of some degree. You don’t like him? You don’t like what he posts? This Board offers an option in the shape of a little button with the word “IGNORE” on it for just such occasions.
I stand corrected, sort of… Totally overlooked those posts on the first page. I guess, technically, 2 posts does constitute a “series.” I’m not seeing any others on the front page than posts 12 and 17.
And unless I’m entirely deranged, Gonzomax only posted 3 times (142, 145, and 151) after the post that set you off. So, post 131 wasn’t really “one of his LAST posts,” so far as I can tell.
Of course I’ve been eating nothing but blueberries and microwave waffles for about four days now, so I freely concede that I may be counting that wrong.
Whether the two earlier posts warrant the characterization of “drive-by,” I couldn’t say. In any case, neither one appears directed at you. You’re the one who intiated the argument-free poking contest in that thread. Right?
Correct. I’m the one who posted the rolley eye AND the laughing smilie. I didn’t feel his comment at the time (when taken with his past comments in the thread) was worth more than that…but in retrospect later I tried to go into more detail about why I thought it was bullshit. Granted, in THAT post I was also insulting to gonzo…but I did attempt to explain why he was missing the point.
Here’s the thing…I’m not claiming to be blameless in all this. I’ve dogged him in other threads for his annoying posting style and habit of doing drive by links. I’m quite sure he IS as frustrated with me as I am with him. I just figured that instead of having his frustration continuing to spill out in the GD thread that this would be a better place for it…and thought that providing a link in that thread he was participating in would get him to take it over here instead. Again, in retrospect I probably would have been wiser to simply make a statement in that thread saying something to the effect of ‘take it to the Pit gonzo’.
You are aware that it’s actually a “tongue-sticking-out” smilie, not a laughing smilie? I mean, you mouse over one, and it says “stick out tongue.” Kind of a different message (though perhaps not in that particular post).
If you concede that you’re not blameless, then perhaps an apology would be the better choice?

It is possible that, in my rush to cite a single sentence, that the cite disagrees with whatever I’ve said before. However, the one sentence/paragraph I want you to read does support my overall contention that nothing is the root of all evil and that there is a conspiracy among a lot of people to hide nothing, nothings that I don’t agree with. All in the name of profit, of course. :rolleyes:
