Good and failed catch phrases from TV series

A-ha! There it is, #1 on the list: “Coolness!”

But I’m feeling much better now.

I always thought Spock fell on the scissors and smashed them because he had been poisoned by the Lizard in 4 (linear), or in game terms because a Vulcan could smash scissors (like rock).

By your command!

Yay! My round!

How about this one…

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Big Bang Theory? Howard’s robot arm?

How sweet it is!

Capital, simply capital!

It would fit there (isn’t that what the nurse actually did?)

It’s what Roy says every time he answers the phone in The IT Crowd
In later episodes they’ve rigged up a tape machine to do it for them.

I believe she said that line too, or possibly just “Did you try turning it off?”

I actually said that, with accompanying hand gesture, when I arrived to the nursing home ten minutes after Mom passed away last year.

Cut . . . It . . . Out!

“Oh Mighty Isis!”

“Oh Zephyr winds from way up high,
Lift me now so that I might fly!”

“Who’s the dummy writing this show?”

“Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice…”

“Confused? You won’t be on the next episode of…Soap!”

“Like sands through the hourglass…so go the Days of our Lives” (and yes I know this is originally from a psalm, but I believe the long-running daytime soap is what popularized it in pop culture.)

Failed catch-phrases: The AVClub reviews of Friends points out how the writers tried to make Ross’ sad-sack delivery of “Hi…” into a catch-phrase (like Chandler’s “Oh. My. God!” but thankfully it didn’t take.)

dyn-o-MITE!

Nip it in the bud

The plane! The plane!

God’ll get you for that.

Don’t forget, “Spectrum is Green!”

Sufferin’ Psyche, Herc! Whatcha gonna DO? Whatcha gonna DO?

GREAT ZEUS!

Oh, Hercules…!
