Perhaps I have strange tastes, or a flawed perspective, or perhaps it’s just my lack of actual real-life experience in the BDSM scene, but I’m having a difficult time finding BDSM porn that I like. At least on the Internet. Even Usenet is failing me.
I’ll admit that part of the problem is that I’m unwilling to shell out my hard-earned cash without seeing evidence (in the form of preview clips, etc) that I’m going to get what I’m looking for. The sample clips I can find (and I’ve looked at a lot) rarely show me what I’m looking for. The clips that actually show the “action” almost always reveal a kind of action that I’m not interested in. On the other hand, the clips that look the most promising also seem to be made by the world’s most precise editors, showing plenty of lead up and then cutting away just as the action starts, leaving me wondering what the action actually turns out to be.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
- emphasis on the “SM” part of BDSM
- good “BD”
- actual use of all those whips, crops, and paddles I see on sites that sell BDSM gear (see items 3 & 6 in the following list)
- real pain infliction: honest-to-goodness welts, and clamps are cool too
- depictions of punishment spankings (spanking being my favorite form of BDSM)
- a sexual component (even if no actual sex is depicted, it’s possible to show that one or both participants is aroused)
Here’s what I’m not looking for:
- the “DS” part of BDSM; the act of putting someone in restraints and whipping them is enough “domination” for me - likewise, allowing oneself to be restrained and whipped is enough “submission” for me
- humiliation: I simply don’t get off on humiliation and degradation, as it tends to involve too much talking and not enough sexual stuff
- “doms” who spend more time making threatening gestures with their whips (i.e. swishing them through the air to make a scary … swishing … sound) than they spend actually whipping the “sub”
- electrical play: possibly fun in RL, but doesn’t translate well to video due to the lack of sound effect, and the response of the subject (judging by what I’ve seen) is virtually indistinguishable from the effects of, say, a vibrator
- stuff made by people who aren’t actually into the scene; in this genre, fake is painfully obvious (pun intended). When a light pat on the bottom prompts a bloodcurdling scream from the “victim”, all I can do is roll my eyes and hit the “stop” button.
- canes: Okay, canes are cool, but enough already! With so many different spanking implements available, why does nearly every spanking film have to focus on caning?
- blood: I don’t mind a drop of blood when the scene involves needle play, but I don’t want to watch a whipping or caning that is so severe that the sub’s asscheeks are dripping blood.
I guess the biggest problem is that I can’t find a good middle ground. Most of what I’ve come across is either fake, too tame, or just plain lame at one end of the spectrum, or far too extreme at the other end (most of the too-extreme stuff seems to be coming out of the former USSR, and I get the distinct impression that many of the young women in the videos really aren’t into it and are only participating because they’re hungry and worried about next month’s rent, and this is a quick – if difficult – way to make pretty good money).
And again on canes: I can’t stand British caning videos. They all seem to be attempting to somewhat-accurately depict school canings, which really just aren’t that sexual or arousing. The problem is that, as a “dominant” male viewer, I get no boner from listening to the “teacher” or “headmaster/headmistress” deliver an interminable lecture that typically includes a lot of head-bobbing and repetition of the word “insolent” (from what I can tell from these videos, “insolence” seems to be the leading caning-worthy offense in the British public school system 
), followed by the student being made to kneel or sit in the corner for a long period of time before the caning actually commences (gee, how exciting it is watching 10 minutes of somebody kneeling!), all leading up to “six of the best” with the cane. Yup, 20 minutes of buildup, and then the actual caning is over in less than two minutes. Six whole strokes! Whee :rolleyes: Lots of non-boner-inducing buildup, and then finally the actual punishment is about to start, and then when I’m at about 25% boner, it’s all over.
I’m not watching this stuff with my wife/girlfriend/partner, so I’m not interested in high art (which too much BDSM/spanking stuff seems to be trying to pretend to be). I’m watching it alone and hoping to get off on it. Set up the premise, and then get to the action.
As far as orientation, I’m looking for M/F or F/F stuff.
So, any suggestions on where to look?
