Good market list for genre writers?

Okay, I’m really getting tired of searching through dozens of online market lists, all claiming to be “up to date,” only to find them still listing markets that I know for a fact have been out of commission for up to two freakin’ years! Many market sites don’t even have a "last updated on . . . " notice, which would seem to be a pretty important feature.

Somebody please help . . . is there any online market list out there that actually DOES update their entries on a regular basis? I trust someone here will be able to point me in the right direction.

It’s a thankless and impossible job, which is why so many people burn out on doing it.

The only one I can find that states that it has been recently updated (November 2002) is Spicy Green Iguana:

Ralan is better than Spicy Green Iguana, in my opinion. It’s updated more often.

For even more up-to-date information, I highly recommend subscribing to the weekly market email newsletter Jobs in Hell, which is run by Kelly Laymon, daughter of Richard Laymon. Previously it was run (and started by) Brian Keene.

If you’d like, you can email me (address in my profile) and I’ll send you a sample issue to see if it’s something you’d be interested in.

I’ve subscribed since the newsletter’s inception (Summer 2000, I think), and have really gotten a lot out of it. It’s $20 a year, and entirely worth it.

Probably the best that hasn’t been mentioned so far is Paula Fleming’s Market List. Last update is December 15.

There’s also SpecFic World. They took a December break, but should be back soon.

Once again the SDMB comes through for a poor unfortunate soul! All the links provided are now bookmarked on this here computer. Thanks!

Incidentally, I did find a great site that tracks response times. It’s probably quite well known, but just in case, here 'tis . . .
