Good movies that you never want to see again...

Did you see THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES, of which I regard WHITE NOISE to be a remake?

FriarTed, here’s a link to a good synopsis of the episode: Jurassic Bark.

Obviously, here there be spoilers.

I’ve never seen Blue Velvet. Seriously, I was too young when it came out. I’m more of the Twin Peaks generation - which was enough to convince me that he’s a raving nutter. Kyle M.'s one of my favorite actors (named my kid Kyle), but for some reason I’ve never gotten around to seeing Blue Velvet. Weird, I know.

I take it that would likely make my list for this thread?

I would only watch Leaving Las Vegas again if I needed to plunge into a deep and dark depression.

Bad Lieutenant was brilliant, but painful to watch the first time through. I don’t need to see it again. Ever. [[shudder]]

Sign me up for the “never watch again” roster for “Jurassic Bark.” Glad I’m not the only one who sobbed for hours.

Also on the list:
Mysterious Skin
Heavenly Creatures
Terms of Endearment
Life is Beautiful
Au Revoir Les Infants
El Norte
American Beauty

Oh
dear
God

Now I’m torn between the masochistic need to see it & the rational urge to avoid it at all costs.

WhyNot- well, if picturing an infantile nitrous-oxide-huffing Dennis Hopper using Isabella Rossallini as his sex-slave strikes you as less than entertaining, yeah, BV would make your list. G

I was a fan of TWIN PEAKS, Seasons 1 & 1/2 & still even have some affection for the last half of season 2.

And yeah, Lynch is seriously deranged, but sometimes wondrously so.

The Bourne Supremacy much? Most egregious shaky-cam work ever (the car chase scene).

Here are a few. Most have been mentioned already; a few haven’t:

Boys Don’t Cry
Leaving Las Vegas
Reservoir Dogs
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Hotel Rwanda
Donnie Brasco

The only one of those that I really really really wouldn’t watch again even if it was one at someone else’s house is LLV. Too harrowing.

Eraserhead

I think I’m glad I watched it, but never again. It seriously creeped me out. Ditto Jacob’s Ladder although I have almost completely forgotten what scared me about that.
I’ve seen Jurassic Bark several times and not broken down in tears* Any of you soppy types know about Greyfriars Bobby? I dare you all to watch the film version.

  • I’m an English bloke, we simply don’t do that sort of thing. (I may have got a little misty-eyed).

Greyfriar’s Bobby would reduce anyone to tears! I haven’t seen this movie in decades, but it’ll just kill ya.

Once Were Warriors - I knew what was going to happen, it’s a subject that I’ve seen before, and that movie shocked me (big letters, in a scary, scary way). It’s well done, and I’d highly recommend it once.

Memento

Am I a cold hearted bastard to find that Futurama epsiode so horribly overrated and trite? I mean come on! That’s the oldest story of dog loyalty ever. I grew up near a town with that same story (apparently there’s also a town in Japan with the exact same story.) The dog waited at the train station for years for hsi master to return…and he never did. Boo… hoo.

Sophie’s Choice, especially not now that I have kids.

Sophie was a (Polish?) Jew being taken to the Nazi concentration camps with her two children. A guard, perhaps for his own amusement, forced her to choose one of her children to send on a train to what we presume was certain extermination. That was a flashback; the story tracks her in the U.S. with her relationship with a manic-depressive, with whom she finally commits a double suicide, each for their own reasons.

Having read the book for We Were Soldiers Once… (And Young) and knowing it’s a true story and damn near an historical accounting, the movie wasn’t quite as horrifying and amazing to watch, so I think I could watch that one again. Probably. Same goes for Blackhawk Down.

As for my “Amazing, you should absolutely see it. I won’t watch it again, though”…
Hard Candy

Laserkitty says Ed Gein and Monster.

I can never watch American Me again.

Friar Ted, you really should seize any opportunity to see Jurassic bark that presents itself.

Once.

I read the book.

I will NEVER EVER see the movie now.

Cochrane:

This is one of the rare occasions upon which I hope somebody is using the word “literally” incorrectly.

I was moved by Affliction, but haven’t watched it again; just too much intimate pain. I’m glad James Coburn finally won an Oscar.

I caught a film previously unknown to me on Fox Movie Channel last night- The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-moon Marigolds- and thought it was the most emotionally shattering film I have ever seen. All the performances are spot-on, and the two actors who play the daughters are amazing. I have never felt so moved by a film ever. A lot of films have a moment or two that may effect you- this film is constantly moving. I can’t believe I have never heard of it until last night.

I’m not even sure I would recommend the movie “Cronicas” because it left me furious afterwards but it was an excellent movie.

I forgot to say I won’t watch it ever again.
