Hah! I just saw Into the Wild Green Yonder this weekend, and figured that was probably the last of Futurama! Nice to find out I was wrong.

WOOT!

This news is as soft and seductive and HOT as an brand-new velour captain’s uniform.

Sweet something of the… something!

Sweet guineapig of Winnipeg!

“casting is about to move forward”? Does that mean they’re not bringing back all the original cast?

Wahoo!!!

I’m walking on sunshine!

I hope the new episodes are better than the movies. I mean, the movies weren’t horrible or anything, but rewatching some of the series itself on DVD recently, I’m struck by just how much better it was than the movies.

In the immortal words of Turanga Leela: Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiya!

Not getting my hopes up. I’ll believe it when the first episode airs.

This would be amazing. Doesn’t it seem odd that it’s just being referenced in this one outlet, though? I’ve never heard of this site – not that that means anything, since I’m not that widely versed on, uh, whatever the genre of this site is.

Still, I hope it’s true. Though the films were a mixed bag, I think the regular-length episodes might be a return to form.

Bender is great!!

I’m so excited, I just produced dark matter in my pants!

I am a bit more cautious, just because of how re-animated series (thinking specifically of Family Guy here, but not wholly) often are a mixed bag. 22 minutes fits the humor and pacing of the setting & characters better than the movies did. Hope they can get the old magic back.

I think a real movie would’ve been great. The problem with the Futurama “movies” was that they had to open and close new plots every 22 minutes so they could cut them up into episodes. Horrible idea from the get-go IMO and the worst of both worlds. Even so, Bender’s Big Score was as strong as the best episodes.

Sweet chrysanthemum of Byzantium!

Sweet Coca-Cola of Angola, that’s great news!

All glory to Futurama!
