Good News! I get to move home soon.

As some of you may know, I had to move out of my condo because of a fire in the building on May 21st. I’ve been living in a (badly) furnished apartment since early June, after living in a hotel for almost two weeks. Were it not for the incompetance of the condo management, the nastiness of the condo association’s insurance carrier, and the fact that the owners of the unit where the fire started were underinsured and continuously fighting with their insurance company and causing delays, I would have been home months ago. But finally, things are getting done: work is almost complete in the common hallway, my contents have been cleaned, and painting in my unit is starting tomorrow.

So I finally get to move home on October 5th.

I am so relieved and so happy.

Congrats!

In similar news, construction on my bathroom starts on Ocotober 9th. This means having workers around the apartment as early as (gasp) 7 AM, and having to S/S/S at my upstairs neighbours. Who are expecting a baby in the second half of October.

And I return from a holiday to California on October 6.

And I start a new job on October 7.

I’ll be glad when it’s November, I’ll tell you that.

porcupine - CONGRATS!!! I’m really happy for ya - I’ll send ya an email - we may need a housewarming for you!!

Badly furnished? You can say that again. I’ve seen better furniture in dorm rooms.

The best part tho’ (of moving out of the temporary place, not necessarily moving back home), is that you can say goodbye to the nightly rhinoceros pogo stick competition upstairs. And no more screaming children. Well, except me, of course, but I only do that in my sleep.

Coldie, it’s always good to start a new job while jet-lagged. And your neighbors will let you S/S/S in their bathroom, but are they going to let you pee there, too?

I think they upstairs neighbors think the floor is a trampoline. I’m working from home today, and I was very close to knocking on their door. Only two more weeks, and only 1 other day when I’ll be working from home.

I really miss my stuff, especially the comfy couch (down stuffed cushions). I’ll be doing a real move next year, as I’ll be selling the condo in the burbs and moving into Chicago proper.

I’m so very happy for you, darlin’!!!

cool.
