Good stripper music

Holy crap, that’s hilarious.

A while back, we had a thread about songs that would make horrible stripper music, and “The Gift” by the Velvet Underground was mentioned. So of course, the next time I listened to it, it dawned on me that it would make absolutely fabulous stripper music, despite the rather unsexy spoken-word story of a guy who inadvertently gets stabbed in the head by a pair of scissors. The instrumental groove is great. Most of that album (White Light/White Heat) would be great striptease music, especially “Sister Ray.” The VU’s “Venus in Furs” would also be good, at least for an S&M-themed dance.

Other good stripper songs would be Devo’s “Freedom of Choice” or their cover of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” Kraftwerk’s “Pocket Calculator,” and Frank Zappa’s “Willie the Pimp.” And by “good stripper songs,” I mean that they’d be fun to see naked chicks writhe around to, not that they’d be easy for said naked chicks to writhe around to.

And maybe the Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows”? “Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream” is as good a sentiment as any for the situation.

Already In Use: You forgot Girl U Want. That’d be great.

I agree about Venus in Furs, unfortunately most strip club dj’s aren’t daring enough to play something most of their audience won’t be into. Not to mention that the girl would need to know the song before dancing to it, I can see how it might puzzle certain girls.

I always liked to dance to Corrosion of Conformity and Monster Magnet, and most of the girls think I’m crazy for that. I love it though, it’s sexy stuff.

The OP says “Natural One”. Like, “Natural One” by the Folk Implosion “Natural One,” or is this some other song? Because that would be a really weird stripping song.

“Fever” by Patsy Cline is fantastic to strip to.

Also, “Feelin’ Love” by Paula Cole (City of Angels soundtrack)

For a bit of Broadway, try “Big Spender” from Sweet Charity.

I have stripped (though not at a strip club) to all three songs. Gotta say, I also like Richard Cheese’s version of “Come out and Play” originally sung by The Offspring.

Oh, hell yeah!

You mean there exist people who aren’t into the sweet sounds of John Cale’s electric viola? Say it ain’t so!

And mlerose, how could I have forgotten Richard Cheese?

I second (or third) a lot of these selections and add:
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus (heh.)
Kid Rock - Cowboy

I had a friend who used to strip to “Big Time” by Peter Gabriel. Seemed to work for her  .

P Control, Prince
She’s Just Killin’ Me, ZZ Top
After Dark, Tito & Tarantula
“Would you do me a favor” & “Chet’s speech,” both from Dusk Til Dawn soundtrack
Closer, NIN (yet again, but this one’s practically mandatory)
Walking On The Sun, Smashmouth
Smooth, Santana

And oh, yeah…almost anything by George Thorogood!

I’ve heard both Firewoman and Love Removal Machine by The Cult at strip clubs…they rock and provide ample opportunity for gyration.

Moving this from IMHO to Cafe Society.

How about Mungo City by Spacehog? Great bump-n-grind riff…

Fuck Her Gently

Most songs are chosen for the way they sound and how easy they are to move to, not for their lyrics.

I’ve stripped to that song many times

Oh, I know, and I can see how Head Like a Hole, Private Dancer, etc. would work fine despite their lyrics but… No More Tears? Man. That really cracks me up.

Dude…what the fuck is wrong with you?
Look, standard stripper music consists of the following:
Motley Crue - Girls Girls Girls
Winger - Seventeen
Salt & Pepper - Shoop
Billy Idol - Rock the Cradle
Britney Spears - Slave
Whitesnake - Here I Go
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Christina Aguilera - Dirty
ZZ Top - Legs
Van Halen - Hot for Teacher
George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone
NIN - Closer
Love and Rockets - So Alive

Basically you get the idea - cheesy, fun, sexual overtones, and NOT containing lyrics that are going to make the girls run to the bathroom crying because their job is dancing naked in front of a bunch of fat drunk guys.

Agreed, but I have always used elements of “real” dance in my routine. You want to move in a way that is suggestive, but writhing around like you’re actually having sex is just tacky. I enjoy doing a show, rather than just a simulated sex routine. There’s a fine line, I supposed.
You are of course right – I can’t stand strippers/dancers who look like they’re humping The Invisible Man, or worse, the floor. That’s not sexy or sensual at all. I just meant that “good” (to me) stripping or exotic dancing is not about doing a Britney Spears routine without clothes. I like that kind of dancing too – at a club or in a dance (not stripping) show. Your use of “suggestive” is the perfect word. Suggestive of sexuality – not a vulgar pseudo-sex routine.

Again, that’s my preference. Like I said, someone must like the bouncy jiggling boobs in-your-face loud style of dancing – just not me. [/quote]

uh…I just like the boobies…
