Mother - Police
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax
Garbage - Crush
Eric Clapton - She’s Waiting
Taps
I had a friend that loved to dance to Bob Seger - Night Moves and Turn the Page .
She said the crowd LOVED songs that reminded them of their youth.
Damn. I would truly, genuinely, pay a lot of money to see a woman strip to the Battle Hymn, starting off dressed only in sheets of the Washington Post.
Am I a sick, sick individual?
I can see the look on the girl’s face as the lyrics start: “These mist-covered mounnnnnnn-tains…”
“But my home is the lowlands, and always will be…”
How about “Mama” by Genesis? “Ha-ha, ha, eehhrrrrew…”
Or hey, what about that march Monty Python used for their TV show? And at the end, where the foot comes down and goes PHBPBTT, you can take a shit on stage.
I always feel like
Somebody’s watching meeee
Really, though, a serious suggestion, inspired by another thread:
Living Dead Girl - By Rob Zombie.
Lyrically it’s monmument to perversion, but musically, I can’t think of a more perfect stripper tune. It’s got a mid-tempo, pulsating, pelvis-grindng beat to it, a halting, sort of rough coital syncopation in places, in addition to well-timed periodic pauses that fall headlong back into the main beat. It’s carnally sexual in its construction, and if you can ignore the undead aspect of the lyrics, that could be the basis for some pretty hot dancing.
I would think anything by Portishead, Lovage, or Garbage would be great for slower, sensual stripping. The last time I went to a strip club, all they played was horrible nu-metal. The girls were beautiful, but I’m such a music snob that the DJ’s horrible choices took away from some of my enjoyment.
“Fantasy”- Ludacris
“Get Low”- Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz
Now that I think about it, The Dope Show by Marilyn Manson fits pretty well into the depraved-but-musically-perfect catagory.
Lords Of Acid - Rough Sex
Lords Of Acid - I Sit On Acid (probably any of the songs from Lust)
Dead Can Dance - Rakim
Dead Can Dance - Cantara
My all time favorite, though I don’t know if it would work as well for a female, heh -
Man2Man - Male Stripper
Anyone seen Exotica?
If you have, then you know that Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows” is the one true answer. Mmmm, Mia Kirshner.
Songs I would enjoy hearing at a strip club and which have a good beat for dancing:
“Feel the Heat” Power Station
“Roam” B-52s (It would be fun to watch a stripper TRYING to dance to Rock Lobster. I also think “Love Shack” would be thematically great, but there are a few breaks that could be awkward)
“Man in the Box” NIN That grinding back-beat was made for slinky hip thursts
“Little Sister” Stevie Ray Vaughn
“If the House is a Rockin’ (Don’t Bother Knockin’)” Stevie Ray Vaughn
And here’s one by Cyndi Lauper that’d work: “She-Bop”
Well, it is on the album “American Made Music To Strip By”.
Almost as suitable as “Top Of The World” by The Carpenters.
Did not know that. Looked up the album, and this remix has me intrigued.
Oh, yeah
“Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture” – Outkast
I’m surprised it isn’t number one in strip clubs…
Sugar Walls and Nasty Girl
