My good thing today is I got Tiger OS 10.4, and its got some way cool toys in it. I waited in line at the Apple Store for 45 minutes. The line was still around the block when I left an hour later. I didn’t win any big prizes, though. The guy I was talking to in line won an iPod and some relative of his in line ahead of us won a 28" flatscreen. I got 19% off my purchase. Better than a sharp stick, I guess.
My bad thing is I woke up coughing, with a terrible sore throat that hasn’t gotten a bit better all day. I feel like someone put not too finely ground glass in my juice. I’ve been using cepestat. ick.
I’m going to bed now.
My good thing: I got these cool new temperpedic slippers from … gah. I don’t remember the name of the store. There’s one in South Center and I got mine at the Alderwood Mall… some store with all these cool gadgets… like a mini Sharper Image. Brookstone? Anyway, they’re like walking on the moooon! So comfy… though to be honest, they’ll probably spend a lot of time in the closet, since it’s been so warm lately and there’s not much need for big booty slippers. (boy, the innuendo could run rampant in that sentence).
My bad thing: coincidentally enough, I, too, woke up with a scratchy throat… feels like something worse might be around the corner. My FIL and Grandma-in-law both have been force-feeding me these “Airborne” vitamins. Agh.
Take care, picunurse, there seems to be a nasty flu bug going around here lately - a handful of hubby’s co-workers got it, both my FIL and BIL got it, hubby sounds kind of scratchy, and now me… spreading like wildfire. Drink some OJ or something.
Good things: I finally resolved a dispute with my insurance company today, with the end result that they’re refunding me $230. Also, I figured out how to fix something in my house with an $8 part instead of having to replace it for $150.
Bad things: I saw the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie. By myself.
My good thing today is Tiger is loaded and running great. It has such fun things to play with… they call them Widgets, they are tiny versions of things one uses often, like a calender, a time zone clock, a weather monitor and some quick little games. It seems to make everything faster too.
As for bad things, my throat still hurts and now my ears are ringing… It must be spring, time for my annual sinus infection. (sigh)
Also, my husband has been contacted by an old girlfriend from high school. She’s recently divorced and even though he keeps telling her how happily married he is, she keeps asking him out! Today she asked him to lunch. Since I trust him I told him to go, since I didn’t feel well. She never called back, so maybe she did get the hint when he told her he’d ask me.
Good things: Went out shopping and bought Mac OS 10.4 too. It’s up and running with no problems. Also bought a electric toothbrush and a new cordless phone. I spend a lot of money, which is a bad thing, but I’ve been working a lot of overtime (both a good and bad thing) and I bought things that I wanted and needed.
Bad things: Watched Matrix Revolutions (could have been worse, it could have been Matrix Reloaded) and I’m going to have a root canal this coming Monday. My second one in a week. But at least I’m getting my teeth taken care of (a good thing).
I just had two bras commit ritual suicide, so it seemed time to buy more. The new ones were on clearance. $8 each! The prices of underthings are ridiculous. New sleeping garb was fairly cheap though. I wear either pajamas or a men’s undershirt and boxers. Even incredibly cheap women’s pjs would have been at least $15 each. The undershirts, however, were $7.60 for a three-pack and the boxers (lovely dark plaids) were $10.83 for a three-pack.
Argh! $8 each! I have to keep an eye out for more clearances. I, too, needed the new bras because mine were starting to spring little elastics, one arm band had snapped, and a couple of them had the clasps mangled in the dryer. Grrr. So I had to go hunt for some extra support (for my workouts)… I found these “Bali” bras, and they’re ever so comfortable - but they set me back $28 each. Sheesh! Normally I buy those boxed bras, which are much cheaper, but aren’t as nifty or comfy as these. sigh
Next time, I’m just going to wrap 'em in duct tape. Just $3.25 a roll! $2.99 for colours! I wonder if they sell baby pink…
I’m still wearing hubby’s boxers and T-shirts to bed - they are comfy, huh?

Another good thing: Hubby just brought back some Dick’s burgers! Mmmm! And last night we went to Smokin’ Pete’s Barbeque… mmmmm. Brisket sammich… Good thing I bought those workout bras.
Oh, yeah, Bali is faboo. Love them. Especially those nice squooshy gel shoulder straps. My bras decided to jettison their underwires violently, without hope of repair. I think they were trying to take me down with them, as I was wounded slightly by the underwire. I never dry mine because they seem to become unmanageable origami things when dried. Last longer that way, too.
I could talk about undergarments all day but I’ll shut up now.
Anastasaeon, you’ll find that your bras will last a lot longer if you keep them out of the dryer. The heat melts the elastic and the bra will disintegrate. Hook the bra together(so the hooks won’t catch on anything), put into a lingerie bag, and wash in cold water on the knits/delicate setting with a mild detergent. You might want to run the load through an extra rinse cycle to be sure the detergent is all washed out. Then, take the bras out of the lingerie bag and hang the bras to dry. They should be ready to wear the next morning. HTH
Good thing: I got to pet and feed a dolphin yesterday! I am still about it.
Bad thing: I didn’t get to go to Tijuana. Mr. Creature and I decided it’d be too tempting to spend Way Too Much Money there. So we’re gonna go next month.
And here is yet another **good thing ** for the day! Thank you, medstar! I always just tossed them in with the rest of the laundry. (No one ever taught me how to do laundry, you see, I just wandered into the laundry room one day I figured out the washer and dryer - the only “tips” I know is don’t use bleach directly on fabrics! )
It’s pretty cute ain’t it? I like the Jesus in Heaven setting.
I didn’t go anywhere near the stores Friday when Tiger came out. I knew it’d be a madhouse, plus I was working anyway. I went to a local store Sat. morning and had no trouble picking one up. And it was just $109. Another good thing.
