I think I mentioned my mother’s best friend earlier on this board, when she got pregnant; I listed it in a thread under “things you can’t possibly believe are happening”.
My mum technically has two best friends, and Best Friend #1 is technically my godmother. But as much as I love her, she lives way out in Alberta, and we really only communicate a couple of times a year; Best Friend #2 comes over to have coffee with Mum every Saturday, they go out to plays and movies, they hang around together a lot. Best Friend #2 is really sweet and kind and bubbly-cheerful to me, and she feels much more like my godmother–my second mother–than Best Friend #1.
Best Friend #2 already has three kids, and she’s my mum’s age, in her late forties. So when she announced she was pregnant, we were shocked and stunned and disbelieving and wondering if she were insane–but we were always supportive. I was all ready to call her “Her Pregnancy”, from another thread, I knew she’d get a kick out of it
But she went to the doctor this morning for a checkup, who did an ultrasound when he couldn’t feel a heartbeat, and then sent her to the hospital–and we found out that the baby doesn’t have a heart. It won’t be carried to term.
She’s got a really close family and she has us, but… if you could spare some good wishes or prayers, that would really be appreciated. Thanks.
This really hurts a lot more than I expected it to.
