Good WSYWIG Web Site program? (hopefully cheap too)

So, we’re going to be making a Web site and need to pick up a decent cheap editor. The fanciest this site will likely get is CSS but even that’s doubtful. Maybe some image galleries, but Photoshop can handle that.

So, Dreamweaver’s like $380 and GoLive is $450ish. I won’t consider FrontPage so that’s out. GoLive 6 is like $250 and that’s a possibility, but if there’s anything cheaper, I’d like to consider that as well. No, we we won’t consider hand-coding.

Anything out there halfway decent, or will we have to go with one of the big boys?

I tried a couple searches for info, but the hamsters seem to have their run of the place today. If anyone has links to older threads on this topic, please post them.

Netscape 7.0 has a free wysiwyg editor embedded in it. Try it.

I got Dreamweaver for $99 while I was a student at the local Jr. College.

Do a google search for Rapidweaver. Amazing, quick, easy and cheap.

If anyone is considering it, I have GoLive and cannot recommend it one bit. It’s way too complicated, and doesn’t give the results you’d expect. Rubbish.

Personally I use an old version of Allaire Homesite, which allows me to code raw, but also has a simple WYSIWYG editor.

This page has a great list of free web page editors.
