I think it’s obvious that Adam can no longer reconcile the logical, reasonable arguments he’s read here with his own comfortable, two-dimensional view of the world. And rather than grow and learn to see other’s viewpoints, he has chosen to retreat back into his nice, “safe” world.
Most of us have gone through our own “paradigm shift” at one time or another. Remember how difficult (and frightening) it was? Wouldn’t it have been easier to just ignore the new information and continue with life as you had always known it? That’s what Adam is doing.
Adam, if you are indeed lurking, I encourage you to come back (or at least continue lurking). Don’t leave. Knowledge is ALWAYS good.

Kelli – Adam has been giving me the heebie-jeebies for months. He was usually interesting, though (if sometimes frightening). I would say I’ll miss him, except I’ve been around this board long enough to know that another narrow-minded fundie will arise to fill the vacancy.

Adam, I think what you heard wasn’t God at all, but was actually your few remaining brain cells alerting you that they were almost convinced to jump ship and join the forces of rationality. This threat to your shallow faith forced you to read the message as God ordering you off the board until the danger passed. But, hey – that’s just my opinion. BTW, do me a favor? Well, if you think about it, it makes sense that God would tell Adam to shut up–after all, he was bad-mouthing other Christians and giving other churches (especially Mormons and Catholics) a bad rap. So maybe God did tell him to leave, just to shut his bigotry up.
Well, I’ll miss you, Adam, and I do hope that “god” tells you it’s OK to come back. Didn’t he send missionaries out to convert cannibals and heathens and such? Surely we can’t be as threatening as a tribe full of cannibals licking their lips by a cooking pot!

It’s amazing. You didn’t agree with a word he said, you belittled his beliefs, you told him regularly he was narrow-minded. Now he does a gracious thing, saying good-bye and telling people he has enjoyed their company, and you take the opportunity to spew all over him yet again.
