Goodbye, Kim the Mercodog

My sympathies, too, Mercodog family. Kim had a wonderful life with you, no doubt.

The blizzard photo is beautiful. What a lucky dog to find such a good family.

Heartfelt condolence to y’all.

My condolences on your loss. It’s never easy to lose a pet.

QtM and elfbabe, I’m so sorry. Kim sounds like a wonderful dog. All people should have a dog that great at least once in their life time.

You have my sympathies Qadgop and elfbabe. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your beloved critters.

QtM, I now have a huge something stuck in my throat.

So long, KtM.

I’ve already commented to you in E-mail, but I had to leave a note here as well to compliment you on your fine dog (and from all accounts I’ve seen and heard, a rather standard specimen of Goldenhood!), and on your good care of this friend from start to the sad end. My sympathies to you both.

I was wondering as I read this what kind of inner… something… it takes to be funny (all right dry and witty) as you remember something you’ve lost.

Maybe it just takes being the way QtM is.

All Lensed creatures reach their Lensed limb (flipper, whatever) to the sky in salute.

My condolences. I still remember a pic you sent me once to illustrate the trees now starting to grow on the beach, and it included Elfbabe and Kimdog as incidental decoration.

My beach isn’t growing any trees yet, but it lacks the decoration, too.

I’m so very sorry for your loss, Qadgop and elfbabe. I send you hugs…

My sincere sympathy. I had to let my old man go in October and there’s still a huge hole in my heart…even though I still have the two girls. :frowning:

That is the finest obit any man or beast could ever hope to have written for them. I feel like I knew the old girl.

With your permission, I added the blizzard photo to my screensaver file.

sniffle

All right, I’m here… only now having had sufficient sleep and ferret-cuddles to feel a bit better. (One ferret is about 2 and the other is about 3 1/2, so hopefully they’ve still got a few good years left in 'em…)

And no, her name wasn’t REALLY Kimchee. It was “Kimberly,” a name I was obsessed with at age 7 - it did turn out a little odd when that ended up being the name of my first college roommate. Kimchee was just what Dad called her, particularly when he decided to sing (to the tune of the Star Wars theme)
“Kimmmmm cheeeeee!
Nothing but kimmmmm cheeeeee!
Silver-green kim chee!
Rolling away!”

The dog usually seemed confused by this. But then, she usually seemed confused by most things. She was kicked in the head by a pony on two different occasions, and we’re not really sure that she was all that bright in the first place. She once spent about twenty minutes barking furiously at a stack of soda boxes sitting on top of the garbage can until one of us heroically “killed” it for her.

sigh Man, what a great dog…

What a great dog.

Even now, like all true dogs, Kim is running a little ways ahead, scouting for those who follow.

Sailboat

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a dog is so tough, especially one that has been an devoted friend for so long. Think fondly of Kim’s foibles and smile.

There’s something in my eye…

I’m so very sorry. I also had a Golden Retriever. His name was Friday. His passing brought about one of the first threads I ever started here.

I’m raising a glass to Kim.

Sorry to see this post, QtM. You and elfbabe seem like good dog people, so thank you for making a dog’s life the best ever.

Angus had a bad checkup last week, so I’m worried. He is an 8 year old Newf with both hips 100% out, a blown ACL in the right knee and definite tearing in the left, understandably. Rimadyl and Deramaxx are my dog’s other best friends. Now, his white count is low, and my vet’s a worrier, so we’re keeping a close eye on it. We lost one Newf to leukemia and two dogs to cancer (a Newf and an English Lab).

Thanks for the thread- we will be able to walk the path a bit better because you shared your experience, strength and hope with us.

…my deepest sypathy!

Supplication in Kims honor to follow…

If we could only keep them forever in their prime. Alas it is not to be.
The only glimer in this dark cloud is that it gives us a chance to make a new friend, and welcome a new member to our family.
My heart goes out to you. it is tough to lose a friend, 2 legs or 4 it isn’t easy.

If anyone believes that pets are mere animals and property, may the Cat Gods scratch out your eyes while the Dog Gods bury face down in the ground with your butt exposed to forever serve as a bicycle stand at the local schoolyard.

QtM and ElfBabe, my sympathies to you and yours. You lost another member of your family in too short a time. I hope another critter or two soon crosses your paths and are adopted into the Mercotan home. They will be well cared, well fed and well loved. If we only treated humans the same way.
