Google Chrome on Windows 8

At work recently, my computer was upgraded to include a faster processor, more memory, and a larger hard drive. Oh, and Windows 8.

Earlier, I had switched from IE to Chrome, because IE would not play videos. Now, however, with Chrome, I keep getting the message “Shockwave Flash has crashed.” Sometimes I get the message that Shockwave has encountered a problem and needs to shut down, immediately followed by the crash message.

Is this an issue with Chrome and Windows 8? I didn’t get this message when I was on Windows 7 at work, and I don’t get it at home on my Windows 10 laptop.

It’s not unique to Windows 8, I’m using Chrome on Windows 7 and it’s been happening very frequently the last few days.

I suspect some new ad has gotten into the Google Ads (or the like) rotation which is causing the Flash player to crash.
