I was checking out Pearl Harbor on Google and came across the moth-ball fleet and what I think is a cruiser and a destroyer anchored together. My Google-Fu is off today; for the life of me I cannot find which cruiser (assuming I’m right) is sitting there. It looks like the pic was taken in 2008. Bonus points if you find out the destroyer/frigate w it.
The cruiser is the USS William H. Standley (DLG/DG-32). The destroyer is the USS Decatur (DD-936/DDG-31).
Sorry, I got distracted and forgot to post the link.
What does ‘loch’ mean in that context? Does it come from the Gaelic or Scots word ‘loch’, which would be perfectly cromulent though extremely surprising? You guys have probably heard of ‘Holy Loch’, yeah?
Thanks! That was my first look at wikimapia; I’ll be burning a lot of time there.
