Google Needs a -eBay Search Engine

I’m really tired of searching for something, usually an out of print document, on the web using Google and getting the first page full of useless eBay hits. Even if you want to waste your time and go there all you get is an opening page of eBay or eBayUK, no specific item like the one you were looking for, for sale. Then I have to tab to Google and enter “-ebay” in the search terms.

And while Google is at it, can I have a search engine that weeds out sites that are just advertisements and a list of other sites whose names they got from Google. This especially happens if I’m looking for an electronic part. I mostly get pages with ads and a list of sites that “will provide a quote.”

I get specific eBay items when I click on Google links. I just checked it again to make sure, and it does, indeed, take me to the item in the link.

Just add -site:ebay.com to your search terms.

I have had what Will Repair says has happened. Most of the time they are auctions that have already ended but I have had it show nothing. It is like an internet echo that remains in the search.

So I can type in “-site:ebay.com cat house” into Google and it will eliminate any ebay listings for cat house?
