Google Voice, we don't need no stinkin' Google Voice

We just started intermittently getting some of our calls routed to Google Voice, which we never signed up for. We didn’t fall for a scam where we entered a code and allowed someone else to grab out phone number either, as suggested on Google Voice help. We also have no interest in getting a Google Voice account at all.

The only solution they propose on-line (they have no support phone number) is to create a Google Voice account pointing to another number and then reclaim your original number. Or change your phone number. Assuming we did the first, can we then cancel GV altogether, or are we stuck with a GV account pointing at this number?

Our phone is through Comcast which despite their ads, do not put customer service first. They claim there is nothing on the account and further than changing the number will not solve the problem because it is attached to the account not the number?? Then they transfer you and hang up the call.

Is changing our number the only real option here, and will that work?

GV points to Comcast <<Your Comcast has been compromised. Someone has broken in & enabled call forwarding on it, pointing to a GV account.

You must go back to Comcast and raise hell with them. Start out with words such as “Security” “Fraud” “Breakin” in hopes of getting some clueful help.

Alas, Google can not help you.

Once you find some Comcast Clue, get the call forwarding removed. Before you do, please find out the number your calls are going to, as I suspect Google’s Abuse dept will want to look into it.

Once the fraudulent forwarding is gone, change all the passwords and PINs on the account to more secure, unique ones. Not your BFF’s name, etc.

[If you used that password elsewhere, then go to those accounts next & change them too…]>>

There are a bunch of calls on the Comcast account to 646-470-66xx which looks like a typical scam number. Hopefully they can help us!
