FWIW, Google Doodle DOES regularly mark Veterans/Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day so it’s not like there’s an antiveteran issue or a total avoidance of memorials of battle. They do better than a lot of other web businesses.

Google, themselves, has said that they don’t want to do any serious commemorations, as they feel it makes those important events silly. You can disagree, but at least recognize that everyone wants the same thing: respect to our vets. Please don’t go down a path where you think a disagreement is hostility- agree to disagree and walk away friends.

I like Quasi. I think he’s a fun and valuable member of the Dope, and i appreciate and sympathize with his health issues. I have also had numerous friendly interactions with him over the years, including a couple (1 2) in the last few weeks.
But he doesn’t get a pass on stupid shit just because he’s Quasi. I made the same response to him that i would have made to anyone else who made that post, because it’s a fucking stupid post and we’re in the Pit. He’s the one who made threats of physical violence in this thread, in response to nothing more than a fairly typical Pit-style insult. As i said before, if you don’t like the heat, the kitchen isn’t the place to be.
I try not to carry grudges from thread to thread, and my disagreement with Quasi in this thread won’t stop me from further friendly interactions with him in the future, and nor does it make me less sympathetic to his dementia. I still think he’s a good guy, and a fun person to have on the Dope. But i’m not going to walk on eggshells around him, and i also don’t think that the moderators should let him get away with breaking rules that everyone else on the Dope would be warned for.
