Got Bruised in Hockey - pretty!

I played hockey on Monday night. We were leading big at the end of the game when ‘the big guy’ from the other team boarded me. (Hit me from behind into the boards)
It hurt, but nothing serious, I jumped up to fight, but the refs made the call, so no need. (plus my teammates have been getting lots of penalties lately, and I like to set a good example:)
Anyway, while undressing I got a look at my chest and there’s a huge red mark across my chest from where a stick was in between me and the boards. Painful to the touch, and red.
Well on Wednesday morning a bruise started forming across the red mark and the red mark was getting faded.
Thursday morning, the red mark is getting smaller but is surrounded by a yellow color and the bruise in increasing in intensity and size.

I’m waiting for green, which should be next. I love the human body and the colors it can make

This summer I played alot of road hockey as I am prone to do. Anyways, at one point I had a “traffic light” on my shin from blocking the rather hard road-hockey ball with my shin on 3 seperate occasions.

It was red/purple on top, yellow in the middle and green on the bottom. I can still feel the little bump in my shin from taking 3 shots in almost the exact same place.

Post a picture of the bruise when it’s fully developed, eh?
(The bruise, not the picture)

I got a good bruise from taking a slapshot to the inner thigh. The puck hit flat-on, and made a perfect imprint of itself (it was a spiral-type roller hockey puck) and then when the bruise developed it spread across my entire thigh, as big as a dinner plate and dark purple.

I took another puck to the shin that made a dent in my shin that lasted three months. And that was through my shinguards.

I’m a goalie on ice, have been for many years, two of them for my old uni. Being a goalie I always have any number of bruses, but one takes the cake. I was in paramedic school, during the day we had to demonstrate we could start IV’s on one another. That night I took a slapshot on the exact same place I had the IV…6" bruse across the entireity of my arm…

Came back the next day, showed my partner, and he felt so bad…hehehe

As a friend recently said after sparring class in karate: “If I don’t end the day with at least one new bruise, I feel like I haven’t done anything.”

Nice comments!
kinoons, That sounds like a lot of fun. In a dastardly way:)
Sengkelat, When I say my chest, I mean my man-tit, so as much fun as posting that would be, I think I’ll not
Or maybe I will and draw a little smiley face

I also play goalie, and remember all the pucks that find their way through/between the padding in the arm/thigh areas. Those are really pretty colors in the ‘meaty’ areas.

Ahhh…yes the hockey bruise. Nothing quite like it. Beautiful shades of red blue and yellow and if you’re lucky some green thrown in.

The best one I ever had I caught a stick in my upper chest. Just below my throat which turned lovely colors for about 2 weeks. It looked like someone had tried to choke me. It was very noticeable and got me some strange looks from people I would meet. Even got me some sympathy from the girlfriend.

sniff I miss that bruise.

I got a nice one from a z-ball on my shoulder. Turned the whole area black and blue for a week. In the same game I got another one from the same guy on the thumb through my hockey glove with a z-ball.

That guy couldn’t skate for shizzle, but his shot made everyone dive for cover.

Forgot one. Took a stick to the eye one game. Didn’t make it to the eyeball but it turned the area around it loads of lovely colors. Had to work a banquet at the local resort the next day. I spent the night in the dishroom.

Worst part was that when the guy hit me, I was past him and heading for a breakaway.

my best (worst?) hockey bruise occurred when i was fifteen. i took a vicious slash to the forearm off a face-off at centre (i had just set up the go-ahead goal.) the ref did not make a call as had his back to my wing as he dropped the puck, but the slasher got the shite kicked out of him next shift he was on.

i thought at first my arm was broken, but xrays were negative. turned out to be a deep bone bruise - i had to wear this gel brace thing for about three or four weeks, missed five games, and had at least as many colours of bruise on my arm.

got the last laugh though… we won the league that year, against the same team in the final, and i set up four of our five goals and scored the other in (the deciding) game 3.
