Got the motorcycle out today...

Mid-December motorcycle rides are not unknown in PA, but they aren’t routine, either. I put on a couple hundred miles today and the world feels remarkably less shitful.

Love it, good on ya. Mine is on the lift in the basement, undergoing a winter brake job.

Put it there too soon, I guess.

I put down about 80. All superslab but still better than a stick in the eye.

Hit 70 here today. Had a riding group Xmas party, gift stealing exchange, food, drinks and blah, blah, blah… Was fun

Wives food and presents = only one rider to the event but many got out earlier in the day.

Low 60’s here in SE Michigan. Unfortunately could not find the time today for a ride. If I’m lucky, I’ll make time tomorrow; after that, we’re unlikely to see adequately warm weekends until March or so…

Enjoy it guys. Here I am in NorCal and during a brief break in rain I can’t find time to change out 2 bald tires for the fresh rubber I’ve got waiting.

Jesus. You like guns AND motorcycles, AND you hate “Lil’ Abner” ?

Next time you come over I’m going to tell you I’m all out of beer, and when you leave, I will drink all the beer myself.

It got up to 49 here in Vermont today, so I got out and rode for a few hours. This time last year we had 26" of snow. This year- ZERO!

Fuck the whiney skiers and snowmobilers, I’m loving this weather.

So, spup, how are you enjoying that new Connie?

The Concours 14 is a wonderful machine. I have no regrets or 2nd thoughts about what-if some other bike. Imma need to buy new tires for the 2016 riding season, though. I wore out the factory set this year.

I LOVE Lil Abner. I just wish Al Capp had been a better person.

I’m also in PA & got 100km on two wheels between yesterday & today but today’s was warm enough for bare arms & legs. However, the ‘motor’ for my ride is typing this post.

Just about 60 here in the Adirondacks yesterday! We’re supposed to be in the 50’s for the next few days. Thank you El Nino.

I’m hoping for one of those rare Winters when Lake George doesn’t freeze over. This weather is doing wonders for my normal Winter depression.

Saturday coming up is supposed to be clear and sunny with a high of 33. With the heated hand grips turned on, some leather gloves, and a neck wrap that might still be riding weather.

I rode to work this morning at 35 degrees. Heated seats and grips are the bee’s knees. I opened the visor and let the cold breeze relieve my sinus pain for a while.

Rode to work yesterday, Southern Ontario, Canada. Little chilly through the thin polyester dress pants, but (as another poster said) still better than a stick in the eye.

What’s everybody else on?

You insure it year-round?

When we lived in the subarctic, there was insurance policies for cyclists that was only for the nicer months. Saved a lot on bills, didn’t fall into “insurance canceled” status or anything.

The guy across the street from us did this. He got antsy when there was an early thaw but the coverage hadn’t kicked in yet.

If you’re talking to me, yessir I insure it year round.

My understanding is that the Canadian insurance companies don’t offer partial years any more. My family in Alberta reports the same scenario.

Even in the bad winters I’m pushing the envelope on the riding season. My bike isn’t pretty, I don’t have to worry about sand or salt. It would bug me if I only had 6 months of coverage.

This scenario is why I do year-round - it sucks when you get a string of nice days but don’t have insurance. Since I do have coverage, I’m less fussy about the weather and ride pretty much whenever the roads are clear, regardless of the temperature.

I took my BMW K1100RS out for a romp a few days ago here in GA. Not all that unusual here as compared to you guys up north, but it has still been unseasonably warm up until this weekend.

I insure year round, because we will almost always get a day, or couple of days, in the 50-60 degree range, even in Jan or Feb.

Unusual for me to own a bike that isn’t in need of something, but the BMW will get an oil change over the winter, but that’s it. No projects, upgrades, repairs, nothing to do. I hate tearing a bike apart for work, and having a great riding day come and go, with no way to enjoy it.
