Found a wonderful one for the office, “Tainted Ladies,” by Anne Taintor (oddly, it’s not on their web site).
And for home, my usual Robert Mapplethorpe—no, not his photos of gentlemen doing shy-making things, but his flower photos.

Personally, I wait until 2 January. Then the calendar is HALF OFF!!! That’s an awesome deal if I ever saw one. I used to get awesome Spanish calendars at the surplus store I once worked at. Now, though…I wade through the leavings at Borders or Barnes & Noble. Unless I find the Uber-Calendar before then, that is.
No, because the 2004 Alias calendar is $12.99. That’s just about too damn expensive. Maybe I can find it cheaper somewhere.
Appointment/desk calendar – check. At-A-Glance monthly, pretty vanilla.
Office wall calendar – check. The gas company dropped it off with their latest fill last week. Baby Wildlife again.
I still need to get:
365 Dogs a Year Page-A-Day calendar for my desk. I like the cute doggie pictures* and anecdotes, and I use the back sides for scrap paper constantly.
365 Puppies A Year wall calendar for the fridge. More cute pictures. Our puppydog Phyllis was featured in it in 2002!
English Springer Spaniel calendar for the living room wall. Why no, we’re not obsessed or anything – why do you ask?
*I promise, I only talk in “puppydog voice” when they’re the only ones who can hear me (well, and Mr. S, but he does it too). And even then, it’s just a lot of “what a good little baby dog” and “sweetheart.” I don’t inflict my mush on other humans, like Pwincess Pwecious!
I’m waiting for Opal to finish the 2004 “SDMB Beefcake/Cheesecake Calendar.”
People buy calendars? By the time all the charities are through with me I end up with a stack of them knee-high of every conceivable theme. (I do usually pick up a smaller 5"x7"ish sized one at the dollar store for my work satchel though. It IS just a dollar.)
Oh, I picked mine up back in September. I’m not one of those anal people who plan everything as far in advance as possible, but I ran across a great one for $5 one day at Walmart and snagged it. It’s a collection of Gary Patterson’s cat pictures.
Sierra Club Desk Calendar, it’s on my Christmas list, I’m awaiting.
Usually some relative sends me an art calendar of some sort, which is good, I like art. If they don’t I buy one for half off somewhere.
Women of Enchantment 2004 Calendar by Kinuko Craft
I think her artwork is so gorgeous. I’m going to enjoy looking at these throughout the year!
I wish I had the guts to put this one in my office.
I have Dave Barry and GW quote day calendars. There’s no room to write on them, and I don’t need them to tell what the date is, but being amused is fun.
. . . They make George W. quote-a-day calendars?
I’m with Mr. Babbington on this one … I always wait until the first of January. Unless, of course, someone wants to just up and give me one for christmas (hint, hint).
Sure do, Eve. Here’s a link.
I’m going to send a donation to the local SPCA, where we adopted our cat from, and get a calendar from them. The money goes to a good cause, and the calendar they sent out last year had some great dog and cat pictures, all adopted from the particular shelter. One cat even looked almost exactly like ours! I imagine it’ll be just as well done this year, if not better, since last year’s was sent out without requesting a donation, although that might have been because we had fairly recently adopted the cat.
www.hamiltonspca.com incase anyone is interested in taking a look.
I’ve got a Maps of the Ancient World calendar for '04.
Cool Tansu!
I usually use the one on my computer for important dates. I’m sure the wife will pick up something for the kitchen.
Do you usally refer to the year as “Aught 3 or 4 or whatever?”
I do and people never know what I’m talking about.
Shore do! I remember my first-grade teacher, Miss Weller, saying, “When I was your age, back in aught-six . . .”
I’ve got the A Queer Year from Page-A-Day for work.
Boris Vallejo calendar for home.
365 Stupidest Things Ever said page a day for work.
I’ve gotten the same calendars for the past several years now.
