Grape-Nuts is a spartan, near-masochistic cereal -- and I love it.

Anybody else a Grape Nuts Flakes fan? Anyone?

Maybe I eat them too slowly. I always have to start when they’re just a bit crunchier than I like and I always finish with them being just a bit soggier than I like. About 80% of the experience is great, though, when I’m in the right mood.

My grandma would pour the milk on her bowl of Grape Nuts and then go take her shower. She did not take long showers. When she got out the Grape Nuts were just right. I have tried to do the same thing, and if I was less scatterbrained I think it would work but one out of three times I forget that I’ve done it and the cereal becomes far, far too soggy to actually eat, but not to eat it would be wasting perfectly edible food and I can’t do that so…uggh.

Flakes are good, but what I really liked was (were?) Grape Nut Os. Haven’t seen them for years and years.

I suspect those of you who love to crunch Grape Nuts dry right outta the box have not had extensive dental work.

Well, on the Internet nobody knows you’re a four-stomached ruminant.

I don’t even need it to soak for 5 minutes. Grape-Nuts is prolly my favorite cereal. And I love breakfast, btw.

Mmmmm… Post Gastroliths.

I love grape nuts, no extended soaking for me. The more crunch the better. In college I ate them with chocolate milk all the time.

So what’s the deal with Grape-Nuts? It doesn’t have any grapes and doesn’t have any nuts, what’s going on here?

When I was a kid my mom would mix Grape Nuts, milk, water, butter, brown sugar, and sugar in a saucepan and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Man, that was good. And nutritious too, because it was Grape Nuts.

Now I have to stop at the store on the way home.

I can’t eat Grape Nuts without thinking or saying, “Wow, there are a lot of grapes out there singing soprano.”

Every. Single. Time.

Well, I like Grape Nuts too, with milk and dry. And I like Grape Nut ice cream, which is one of those old-fashioned New England flavors that I’m afraid is in the process of disappearing.

I had no idea those existed, but now I have to have them. I used to love real Grape Nuts, but my teeth are not in great shape these days.

Cecil on delicious, delicious Grape-Nuts.

Au contraire. At least in my neck of the woods, the regional Hy-Vee food stores offers Nutty Nuggets. They are almost exact facsimiles of the real Grape Nuts, at a much lower price. Again, IMHO. I love 'em.

I sew Grape-Nuts into my hair shirt.

I bet it’s great in yogurt or on icecream ?

You would win that bet.
