Grape-Nuts is a spartan, near-masochistic cereal -- and I love it.

You damn betcha. Vanilla yogurt, specifically.

I’m a Raisin Bran man myself, but this (amusing) thread has intrigued me. What’s the best way to eat them? Seems like yogurt (maybe that Greek stuff I hear so much abou these days), some fruit (do strawberries complement the ‘grapenutty’ flavour?) and maybe a bit of honey (or brown sugar? I love me some brown sugar).

On hurried mornings, when I can’t soak it, I’ll just pour a bunch into my mouth before I hop in my car. I sometimes wonder, if I got into a fatal car accident before I could eat that big clump of Grape-Nuts just what the coroner’s report would look like. “Subject found with mouthful of mysteriously course gravel.”

I eat shredded wheat without sugar, same with Grape Nuts. I don’t even let them soak. I love them, I find them tastier than most cereal. SO THERE.

For years my brother’s standard breakfast was an unappealing (to me, anyway) slop of Grape Nuts soaked in OJ.

Could’ve been worse. In “Where’s Poppa?”, Ruth Gordon preferred Lucky Charms soaked with Pepsi.

grape nuts taste wonderful with almond milk, raisins and a little sugar. in the winter, put it in the microwave for a minute.

not for breakfast, though, for supper.

Grape Nuts are like the old time sailor’s “Hardtack”-hard as a rock and able to chip your teeth.

I love Grape Nuts. Then again, I also love a cold shower in the morning.

I think Grape Nuts are best when they are eaten by someone who isn’t me.
My cereal?

RAW BITS

made of oat hulls and wheat chaff.

Many people think that diamonds come from coal that gets compressed over millions of years deep within the Earth, but they are really just Grape-nuts that got stuck in someone’s gut for a few hours too long.

SO who was the guy, a vegetarian or some MR Green jeans type who used to be int he commercials for grapenuts, Vern something? Any body remember that guy? He was almost famous for …for… eating grapenuts, whatelse?

When I was a kid, I used to eat Grape Nuts with carob chips. They were pretty good.

Put Grape nuts in mug and add enough milk to half fill. Microwave 1.5 minutes. Add spoonful each of sunflower seeds and dried blueberries; stir and eat.

Yummy!

Euell Gibbons.

I like Grape-Nuts, but waiting to soak is for suckers. I just pop 'em in the microwave. Delightfully warm with the effects of soaking, no waiting.

Grape-Nuts, milk and some brown sugar. I don’t like them when they get soggy. Delicious crunchiness.

I feel so old. When I think of Grape Nuts, I automatically think of Euell Gibbons, eating pine trees, and the Johnny Carson or Carol Burnett commercial parodies.

I’ve never eaten Grape Nuts. I only eat ‘kid’ cereal covered with sugar. My favorite cereal is Cocoa Pebbles…

I asked my boyfriend, who regularly buys things like Raisin Bran, if he likes Grape Nuts:

“it’s like eating a bowl of gravel”

For some reason this thread makes me WANT to eat Grape Nuts even though they sound horrible to me, just because it’s so funny.

Say what you will about GN, but GN is the only cereal on the planet that if you eat it, you will NOT feel hungry thirty minutes later.

If you want to talk about masochism; try eating Honeycomb cereal when you are a 5yo. That shit tears the roof of your mouth apart!
