My gf and I have been invited to a Grease themed party where all the adults have to dress as characters. Now my gf barely know these ppl and I haven’t even met them.
My original plan was to go as the car but I figured that would be too dificult for me so I’m planning on going as Sandy just for shits and giggles.
Any idea where I can get the wigs and clothes from as I can’t make them and I haven’t really got th money to be spending loads of cash on them.
Aw, I want to go!
Anyway, if you can get a long full skirt, preferably pink, and a cheap blonde wig, that would be good. Add a white or pink blouse and a stupid hairbow and you’d be divine. Saddle shoes would be great also but I can see how getting those might be problematic. I’d be looking at Goodwill for the clothing, but I’d buy a new wig if you have a costume shop available. (And am I correct in assuming that you are male?)
Good ideas - and I’ve actually seen saddle shoes in a few stores recently. Try Payless. If that fails, those all-white Reebok sneakers that are sold in a lot of cheaper stores (Target or Walmart) would work as well.
For the hair, get a scarf. A lot of stores are selling them now as both hair accessories and belts (again, Target has them). Also, a cardigan over the blouse would complete the outfit!
Bad Sandy would be easier and more fun, but the high heels are *mandatory * with that outfit, and if klintypooh is indeed male, that might be more pain than it’s worth to him!
A pair of knock-off Keds plus white ankle sox shouldn’t cost too much at Walmart.
What’s your shoe size? Payless goes up to around 14 (a male friend went as Barbara Bush one year) so you should be able to find a nice pair of demure white shoes or the fuck-me pumps.
–gigi, still disillusioned that Sandy had to become a slut to keep her man
In the Barbara Bush vein, you could always go as Eve Arden’s Principal McGee, Joan Blondell’s frumpy greasy spoon waitress Vi, or one of the angels (white robes and curlers) from Beauty School Dropout.
Actually, you don’t *want * to spend loads of cash on those outfits. The cheaper they look, the better.
It’s the wrong time of year to find them, but a cheap blonde Halloween wig will do for the hair.
Poodle skirts are very easy to make. Get yourself a large piece of flannel (pink is a good choice) cut it waist-size on top, then flare it out very wide to the hem. You’ll need to add enough overlap to give it a cone shape when you sew it up.
What I can’t help you with is the seven petticoats you’ll need to give the skirt the necessary fullness.
Payless has an online store, if that helps for shoes. These or these would probably work, and they come in wide widths, which will probably fit your foot better.
