Great customer service from Amazon

Back on September 26th I purchased the Kindle version of Quicken 2012 The Official Guide to go with my September 13, 2012 purchase of Quicken 2012 For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)) [Kindle Edition]

On October 6th I purchased Quicken 2013 from Amazon.

I realized I should get the 2013 guides so I asked yesterday if they would allow me to exchange the Quicken 2012 The Official Guide for the 2013 guide. I didn’t ask about Quicken 2012 For Dummies. Today I receive an email that they can’t exchange the kindle book but will refund my purchase.

I think that’s great because of how long I had the kindle book.

I have always had good customer service from Amazon.

Last Xmas I bought my GF a 1st generation Kindle Fire, which last month started to have battery/charging issues. The other day we called Amazon to ask what we could do to remedy this, and no questions asked they immediately 2-day shipped us a brand new one (current generation, 2nd I believe) and a box to ship them back the old one. We just got the new one, and it all cost us not one penny.

This week I intended to buy an Audible (subsidiary of Amazon) audiobook as a Christmas gift for my sister. I missed seeing the “buy this as a gift” button under the “buy this” bigger button, and accidentally bought it for myself. I called their 24/7 toll-free support line and explained what I’d done, and they cheerfully refunded my money.

I have always had such excellent service from Amazon that I pretty much exclusively do all my online shopping through them. I was randomly trying to download an album through iTunes and I’m old and feeble and just am not getting it when I said “Why are you not buying this through Amazon?” I did and it was easy as hell and like $4 cheaper even. What the cupcakes?

Recently I had my first issue. There is a show I subscribe to. (They have something called a TV Pass.) I got into it midway through the second season, bought the first season on DVD but the second and third seasons were not released on DVD I guess? So I subscribed but their updating is kind of wonky. Sometimes the episode would be available to view a half hour after it aired, sometimes it wouldn’t be available until days after.

So for the season three finale I prodded them politely that after 3 days the latest episode wasn’t available to watch they replied “Oh yeah, we have issues with [specific network].” After this interaction I received an email asking if my problem was resolved. I patiently waited several days before responding: “No. My problem is not resolved because my problem is I need to watch the episode Big Time Bloopers and it is NOT AVAILABLE!”

Received response: “Our records show it is indeed not available and we will correct it.” It was up within the hour.

So if you ever have bad customer service from Amazon it’s that one guy they haven’t weeded out yet.
