Great Dopers of yesteryear

Another vote here for collounsbury, whose insights and analyses are still spot-on - on a blog site that’s easily Googleable, as well as on Wikipedia. He’s back in good health, or so he reports.

T’heck with december, i wanna know what milossarian thinks about Iraq’s WMD’s these days.

I miss celestina. She was cool.

Also Eve and collounsbury. It looks to me like Eve just takes sabbaticals from here once in a while so I have hope of her eventual return.

You woke him up! He posted the day after your post. The OP you linked to was indeed a classic.

I miss FinnAgain, who is still a member, but hasn’t posted since December.

For me it was neurotrashgirl (that might not be exactly correct) and purplecrackwhore.

Just because I thought they had two of the coolest names out there.

Quite a few of my favorite departed Dopers have already been mentioned, so i’ll just chime in with:

World Eater

He’s still a member, but doesn’t post much anymore. Probably busy.

erislover

I didn’t always agree with him, but more often than not he made interesting and smart contributions, and was lots of fun to have in a discussion.

Mockingbird

I know he rubbed a few people the wrong way, but i always liked him.

I also miss the wing-nuts (meant in a generous spirit) from both sides of the political fence, like Aldebaran, Reeder, december, milroyj, etc. They might have been infuriating at times, but they were fun to have around. I’m on record, i think, opposing all of those bannings.

And despite the fact that he’s only just left, i already miss MGibson. I missed his departure thread initially, and only just noticed it. If you’re still reading, i’m sorry you’ve left.

TN*Hippie

Second that. He could always be counted on for limericks and haiku. My guess is he’s got some business going with the state of Tennessee, if you know what I mean.

I miss scott evil.

This thread makes me realize how little I’m actually poring over threads anymore these days.

I have an incredible amount of respect for Fenris, based on his Heinlein knowledge.

And I’m torn on Zenster. Having met the man in person… but I did appreciate his recipe’s thread.

Welfy was my first SD crush, and shes’ moved on to LJ almost exclusively. We comment on each other, every now and again.

Tequila Mockingbird was another lady whom I had a pretty severe case of lust for. And she was friendly too, which was nice.

Gabriela - I clicked with her sense of humor. I had a question I wanted to ask a couple day’s ago and thought to myself she’d know the answer. I don’t know what happened with her.

ChiefScott - I and many other’s liked his dialog. I don’t really know why he disapeared, because I was gone for for a few years being to ill to use the boards. He disapeared about the time I returned.

I won’t get the signature right. - IAMTHEGODCOWMOO - The older posters will know who I mean.

Amen to both. Fine Dopers. ChiefScott was Grade A, & IAMTHECOWGODMOO was always fun.

pepperlandgirl

I remember Gazelle was recovering from some tough times around when she left. Hope she’s doing ok.

Ditto that!

I seem to recall Master Wang-Ka posting just a few months ago.

I could be wrong, of course.

His last post was in October, 2006.

I miss whoever the poster that did the Doctor Seuss style poetry in MPSISMS. Maybe it was Duck Duck Goose?

I was going to say spiritus mundi, but it seems he’s not gone. Hardly posts at all, though. Torgo on the other hand, really has gone.

For those of you who miss collounsbury, here’s his webpage:
Lounsbury .

I second missing both Sofa King and good ole aynrandlover, who changed his name to erl.

Sorry for bumping this up but I read every post in it and didn’t see this guy mentioned yet.

I really miss Scott Plaid, actually, and I was really surprised when I once checked his profile just to see he was a guest. No idea why he didn’t re-up. Sure he was a pain in a lot of Dopers’ necks early on but he seemed to be one of those that adapted over time and became fairly well liked. I know I did.
