Great Dopers of yesteryear
Sorry for bumping this up but I read every post in it and didn’t see this guy mentioned yet.

I really miss Scott Plaid, actually, and I was really surprised when I once checked his profile just to see he was a guest. No idea why he didn’t re-up. Sure he was a pain in a lot of Dopers’ necks early on but he seemed to be one of those that adapted over time and became fairly well liked. I know I did.

So?
Email him.

Second Aldebaran. He brought a nice alternative viewpoint into some of the discussions.

Some of the dopers I’ve met in person and no longer see here: Andygirl, Ayesha, Cessandra, Doc Watson, Eve, Irishman, Melin, Michi, Nachos for Sara, Ringo, Sealemon, Surgosan, Swimming Riddles.

No love for SPOOFE? The toothpaste incident was a classic. He was a funny guy.

So many names I remember, and I’m a little sad to realize they’re (almost) all gone. There are so many that I would give up my posting privilages to have back (especially since I’m such a lurker, really).

hillbillyqueen/batsimybellfry Last I heard from her, she’d been having some health problems, nothing serious, but certainly annoying. I tended to really like the threads she started in MPSIMS most of all.

Davebear. Haven’t seen him since 2004.

Small British Shop Owner

what?

What does it mean — and I’ve seen this several times now — when a person leaves a lot of blank space in his reply, and then writes “what?”

I believe it to be an attempt at humor.

Insert the sound of crickets chirping into the blank space.

Another vote here for collounsbury, whose insights and analyses are still spot-on - on a blog site that’s easily Googleable, as well as on Wikipedia. He’s back in good health, or so he reports.
Yes. Where is collounsbury when we need him? Prickly as a cholla cactus but right on the mark in his field.
And mushrooms. Don’t forget posting under the influence of 'shrooms.
Well, the shrooms were the source of all the monkey butterhorn nonsense. Still one of the coolest threads I’ve ever read on any message board.

There was a poster from my lurker times that would only reply in smileys. I can’t remember the name but he was able to convey a lot of words in that.

Tashabot. Bitch is lucky I don’t own a gun. :stuck_out_tongue:

I miss my old buddy mouthbreather. Met him and his lady a couple of times IRL. (Can’t remember her username…) Both very cool folks.

mouthbreather could always be counted on for a hilariously snide remark, or some insightful commentary on music.

Eve is finishing a book on Vernon & Irene Castle.

Well, I’m a slow reader myself.

Any hope for a mass email/amnesty?

Am I the only one that misses thaidog? He started my favorite thread ever, oh, four years ago now. If I wasn’t on the Mac I could link it…

Also Satan, and then there are some people who are still around who don’t post very often and when they do, I realize I’ve missed them.
