They had the “Hollywood” signs and then Addy said, “I hate L.A.” so I’m also thinking it was somewhere like Malibu.
Well, I’d quit on Grey’s a while back, but I caught the Friday night showing of this, & really enjoyed it. Basically 'cos it was mostly the New Show by Way of Apology to Abandoned ABC Stars. It helps that I find Walsh, Brenneman, & Dungey very pleasant to watch. Actually, I have to admit that Tim Daly’s aging very well too.
As an old Judging Amy fan, I was totally not bothered by the Tim Daly/Tyne Daly/Maxine Grey/Amy Grey/Amy Brenneman connection. Didn’t even think about it. It’s reasonably clear that Tim Daly is not Amy’s uncle. However, I really noticed the Daly/Walsh scenes; I remember those two being in his show Eyes–wasn’t she his ex?
Acc. to imdb.com, she was indeed his ex. She was also an FBI agent in Daly’s 2001 series “The Fugitive.” No mention of her being on “Wings.”
I just knew Tim Daly as the voice of Superman from Superman: The Animated Series. I guess he does more than voice work!
death from complications secondary to treatment for hiccups… HAR!
I thought Tim Daly is Tyne Daly’s nephew; that would make him and Amy kissing cousins.
Nope. Tyne was born in 1946, and her bio page on imdb says that Tim is her brother. He was born in 1956.
Add me to the group that thinks Thatcher was way out of line. Yeah, he was distraught, and blames Meredith for Susan’s death (because she recommend it to them after Bailey brought it up), and he’s such an emotional basket case on the best of days its inevitable that he’d do that - hit his daughter. But that doesn’t make it right, andshe should go to Susan’s funeral and never ever talk to him again.
Maybe we’re seeing the beginning of an explanation of why Meredith’s mother was such a bitch about dad never contacting them? Maybe he hurt Meredith? Nah, Ellis was such a horrid person she probably would have used it against Meredith at some point (be grateful to me, I saved you from that man).
I have a friend named Christina. She asked me once if I was ever amused over the fact that Grey’s Anatomy had a character with her name that acted just like me. I was taken aback at first, but decided to take it as a compliment. I am direct, I’ve been told. Gee, if I’m like Cristina you’d think I’d be farther in life, huh?
That’s what 51 looks like? Yowzah!
Am I the only one who’s pissed that they advertised a two hour episode of Grey’s Anatomy, and what we actually got was about 45 minutes of Grey’s and an hour and fifteen minutes of some other show?
Memo to the show’s producers (or whoever makes these dumb decisions): If you want me to watch some crappy spin-off, maybe you shouldn’t give me a reason to resent the show and all its boring characters before the first episode even airs. :smack:
Regarding the OP:
Christina reminds me of a friend of mine, and she (my friend) is hilarious, ergo Christina is also hilarious. To those who don’t care for her, perhaps you should try saying, “That’s just like something Becky would say!” after each of her lines.
E.g.:
Meredith: You look like you need a hug.
Christina: Go to hell, bitch.
Audience: That’s just like something Becky would say!
Hilarity ensues.
Thank You! I was revisiting this thread to post these exact sentiments. As a viewer I’m pissed off that a pilot was shoved down my throat under false pretenses. If my fiancee hadn’t been watching with me I would have fast-forwarded through the parts in Malibu. From what I saw on thursday night I will not be watching Addison’s spinoff show. I hope others also disliked the ‘pilot’ and the idea gets scrapped.
I’d like it more if she wasn’t in it. Don’t like her. Never did. She’s had a couple of moments but I’ll be glad when she’s off Grey’s.
Using a wildly popular show as a vehicle to spin-off another show is actually a really good marketing ploy. But not the way they did it. It was 2 shows spliced together with no unifying theme.
Addy’s decision to leave Seattle, and her sudden desire to have a baby, seemed rushed and out of left field. And I think they tried to force the new characters in too soon. Did we need to know everything about them the first episode?
Yeah. Didn’t she get pregnant and either miscarry or abort McSteamy’s baby? Because she wanted a baby but only with the right partner? So what’s this about wanting a baby on her own?
It is possible to regret such a decision. It is also possible for a woman hearing her bio clock ticking down to suddenly get it in her head to have a baby especially after an attempt or two at a relationship don’t work out. A little foreshadowing would have been nice but I don’t think it’s implausible. We don’t get to hear everything that’s going on in the character’s brains.
But, didn’t she have that abortion recently? In the last couple of years. So why, all of a sudden, is she sterile? That didn’t make sense to me. Seems like a plot contrivance so Tim Daly can naturopathically heal her. :dubious:
That almost sounds as if a plot contrivance would be an unusual thing to run up against in Shondaland. (please see fig 1. ridiculous prom)
Do any of you know if accupuncture really makes you cry like that?
What the doctor said to her made it sound to me like more of an eggs/hormones issue related to her age than a problem resulting form the abortion, which was exactly a year before one day this season so it was either a year and 3 weeks ago or a year and 6 months ago - I can never tell how much time is supposed to have elapsed between episodes.
And isn’t it convenient that Addison’s THE BEST OB/Gyn and she married THE BEST Neurologist, who was best friends with THE BEST plastic surgeon, and she’s best friends with THE BEST fertility specialist? Someone’s gotta be graduating 12th in the class, or 120th.
And they’re all so young to be the best in their fields.
Probably less time than that. I’d be surprised if a year has gone by yet. Pretty sure Shonda likes to keep things vague when it comes tothe timeline.
Re: accupuncture. I’m pretty sure that particular response was caused by the placement of the needles, and not the application of accupuncture in general.
