Guess the dictator or sitcom character!

A friend of mine just sent me a link to this site:

http://www.smalltime.com/dictator.html

It’s pretty nifty. Basically, you choose either a dictator or a sitcom character and then the site will ask you a series of questions and then it should be able to guess who you chose. (Disclaimer: I think it only works with US sitcoms, so keep that in mind if you furriners try it).

For the record, I chose Pol Pot and it guessed correctly. I think the tip-off was when it asked me if I had been a leading character in a film titled “The Killing Fields.”

But yeah, good times.

It guessed correctly with me as Barney Gumbel from “The Simpsons”, Bud from “Married with Children” but could not come up with Detective Frank Drebin from “Police Squad!” - although it says the name is in its database and has been guessed before.

Wow, it got Buddy from “Charles In Charge”, Dana Whittaker from “Sports Night”, and even Manuel from “Fawlty Towers.” I’m impressed. Now, to try one that’s really hard…

HA! Stumped it with Paul Bracken from “Herman’s Head”! It guessed that I was Colin Powell, who I’d hardly call a dictator…

Creepy! Creepy! Creepy!

This AI correctly guessed that I was:

Mr. Roper from ‘Three’s Company’.
Mrs. Roper
Chrissy (Okay, Okay, what can I say? It’s the only sitcom I’m any authority on).
Pol Pot, and Bennito Mussolini!

It was only wrong on Idi Amin, but that’s totally understandable.

Neeto!

That’s downright creepy.

Deb from Everybody Loves Raymond, check.
Slobodan Milosevich, check.
Jamie Buchman from Mad About You, check (once I answered the questions correctly).
Fidel Castro, check.
Carter from Spin City, yup (again, once I got my questions right).
Margaret Thatcher, yip. I maintain she was a dictator. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m gonna have HOURS of fun with this.

It guessed Ursula from Mad About You, Murphy Brown, Andy from Family Ties, Gunther from Friends, Maris from Frasier, but I stumped it with the Janitor from Scrubs.

I love this site, it’s fun.

It guessed Thing from The Addams Family correctly, but thought Poochie (the dog Homer voiced on an episode of The Simpsons) was Max Headroom. It got the Inanimate Carbon Rod on the second try-the first, it thought I was Krang, the brain guy from Ninja Turtles. I think one time I got Jesus when I was thinking Super Mario.

Don’t be creeped out–it’s just a neat trick of process of elimination. You can pretty much only stump it once, since if you do it asks you to add a question that would identify the person you are thinking of.

Next, try it by answering questions about you personally. It thought I was Jeremy from Sports Night.

I found this link on SDMB a few months ago. It’s fun to answer for yourself and see what it comes up with. I was Cleopatra, which I think is pretty cool. One of the questions was something like “Have you killed more men than you’ve slept with?” (Answer: no.:))

I tried it as myself, and it guessed I am Geraldine from The Vicar of Dibley. I don’t know whether to be flattered or insulted.

Heh. I came out as Phoebe from “Friends”, which is another “should I be flattered or insulted?” Plus, they spelled it Febe, which just about made my hair fall out. Gah.

Ah…much better game, Elwood. It apparently thinks that I’m Alex Keaton.

I got the same thing I was last time I tried it. Eddie, Chandler Bing’s ex-roommate.

I so want to be somebody else.

I’m either “Richard” from “Caroline in the City,” or Chandler from Friends.

i think ill go kill myself now. bye.

Ranchoth

I’m Mr. Moore from “Head of the Class”! Woo-hoo!

Um, who’s that? And what show is that?

Howard Hesseman as an Honors teacher; Robin Givens played a student.
Head of the Class

BTW: I prefer trying to stump Guess the TV Show or Movie Name.

Looks like the same software, different database. Once again, “Police Squad!” stumped it. It helps that only six episodes were made.

Well, I got to be Valerie from Will and Grace. Although I kept telling it I wasn’t wealthy or a snob, it apparently thinks I am.

For some reason, I read this pretending I was an English-speaking character (works well with Speed Racer’s inner dialogue voice) from a Japanese Anime movie/show. I laughed.

I stumped the TV Show/Movie name one with Working. That was an NBC sitcom with Fred Savage, by the way.
