Guess what?

This isn’t a topic including a question about something on here pertaining to why or why not something is so.

This topic’s purpose isn’t about any grevience at all. Or any complaint.

This topic isn’t even regarding the rules or what somebody did or about a problem I’ve come across on the boards.

What this topic is about is just saying how much I appreciate the boards and forums. How glad I am that we have Mods and Admins who take the time to volunteer to read every single thread and keep us relatively free from spammers and trolls. And how nice it is to have a place to either read and lurk or post in nice conversations that are educational and intelligent.
Seems to me I’ve seen people so quick to “pit” the board or the actions of a mod or admin when something happens that’s not agreed, or to whine minorly or excessively when the board has problems. But the topics that are actually giving a compliment to the boards when everything IS going fine seem to be few and in between and most the topics in here all have a point (Point being, to ask about something, to talk about something happening on the boards, etc). None look just to exist to say how nice the boards are and how much we actually enjoy being here and appreicate the Chicago Reader and Cecil and Co for making it possible to have a fun place to spend each day.
And no, my nose isnt’ brown and I’m not puckering up to kiss hiney. I’m just saying what’s on my mind based on what I’ve observed.
So, thank you.

Hear, hear! Let us be thankful for the tireless souls who herd us along, in our rumbling, confusing quest for knowledge and amusement.

Thanks, folks.

Good on ya, Idle Thoughts. Yes. Very true words, those.

There is positive stuff out there in this wonderful community. We just need to “Ac-centuate th’ positive … e-liminate th’ negative …”

Ditto

My only quarrel with your post is that you missed off “and night”.

Julie

Idle Thoughts: we all need to hear positive things, especially in an environment where people seem to embrace negativity at times.

It’s like what 40 of us were discussing last July: complimenting people isn’t spoiling them… it’s letting them know that they’re appreciated for who they are / what they do.

Thank you for your Idle Thoughts

I agree with Idle, after de-lurking I’ve become addicted to this thing. Please don’t ever take it away, it’s much to wonderful. Thank you for making it what it is.
