Just a quick reply before I leave for rehearsal dinin’. First, YAY! FCD is home and resting. FCM you try and get some rest too. You’ll need it. Taters I’m glad the boyfriend is cute. Hope the headache ain’t so bad you die all through the evening. Ok, Somebody is yellin’ at me to come on, so bye y’all!
No the ribs were a big hit. No matter how many I fix, they always seem to goes away.
Sorry, Hubby has claimed the remaining eclairs. I’m going to send then to work with him tomorrow. He can share them with the rest of the fire crew… or not. He doesn’t share that well, especially when it comes to desert  He’ll make them beg.
–former EMT voice-- Hmmmm. Always yield to the fire dept.
dang.
I haven’t been keeping up to date with the MMP this week so i’ll just say i hope you are all doing well
I took Thursday and Friday off from work - kinda unofficially but if they challenge me then i’ll just look innocent and claim it was an honest mistake.
In other news - i finally ponied up the dough to join SDMB properly so i hope whoever gets it enjoys it and there’s enough to buy boiled peanuts* for everyone.
*or whatever damn weird food you foreigners eat.
Yuck. Boiled peanuts. Butter tarts would be better. I say we spend her money on butter tarts.
Yesterday evening was fantastic! After a lot of complicated schedule arranging a whole bunch of us went out for Mexican. Let’s see: me, Quasi-Daughter, Driving Husband, Dishes Husband (who really wants to upgrade), Lazy Husband, and a another friend, being racous together.
Other Friend (who think’s he’s funny) bought me and Quasi-Daughter double shots of tequila. I hate tequila. We were instructed on proper tequila method, and I did half of mine while Quasi-Daughter slammed back hers. I was nerving myself up for the second half when Quasi-Daughter reached over, grabbed mine, and downed it sans salt or lemon.
It was pretty funny.
Afterwards we went out for gourmet ice cream and then out dancing. It was a wonderful evening. I am happy.
I went to my second Tae Kwon Do class today. I’m actually a 1st dgree Black Belt, but I haven’t trained for many years, and I’m quite rusty.
Anyways, I had a brain fart, and missed the beginner’s class because I misremembered the time. So I joined the intermediate class afterwards. There are 5 of us total working out: me, the instructor, and 3 kids all under the age of 12. We start warming up… pushups, ab crunches, some stretches… and the instructor shouts out: “Six laps around the gym!”
Great. I HATE running. So much so that I purposefully chose swimming and cycling as exercises for my post-op life. However, being a TKD veteran, I also know the value of not complaining. At my old school, if you were a whiner, you did ugly things like pushups for a half hour; I assumed something similarly eeeeevil would happen here.
I fell in line, and started running. The 3 kids were out front, then me, the old fat guy, and the instructor brought up the rear. At the end of the second lap around this little gym, there was a lot of wheezing going on, but it wasn’t from me.
Three, 4, 5, 6 laps, and we’re told to line up. I take my spot, and automatically assume the ‘at ease’ stance, with some sweat trickling. Those three kids, the biggest of whom is a little pudgy, are all bent over trying to catch their breaths. The instructor looked at me, shot me a big old stage wink, and started teasing the kids about how they’d never survive tournament training if a little jogging did that to them.
After class, I told the instructor that I’m a 2 mile a week swimmer, and it must be doing me some good…
Yeah, pass the tatties and neeps.
Last night went pretty well. We pretty much doubled our weekly sales total.
We had a nice feller in from Mia Sonatina(sp?) winery doing a wine tasting. He gave us 2 half bottles when he left and I traded a big handful of soap for a full bottle of Reisling. We also had a photographer’s stuff hung and she was there with her 8-yr old daughter, who is very precocious and a real cutey. We saw a lot of our friends and talked to a lot of new people. It was fun, but we were tired out last night. Slept for 9 1/2 hours. Today will be slack. I’ll be open 11 to 6 as usual, but it will be lonely.
I’ll check back later.
Good Saturday afternoon, or evening or maybe even Sunday by now for some, y’all! Somebody is majorly hungover and bein’ a big ol’ grouchy bear today. See, somebody had him a margarita or ten (actually only six, or so somebody said, but they were biiiiiiiiiig) last night at the Mexican place and was rightly faced by the time we left.
I’m not complainin’ though. I’ve been really, really nice. I even made breakfast. I haven’t complained about the most of the day sleepin’ even. However, somebody needs to get his butt in gear cause we have to go downtown and get checked into the hotel so we have time to get all purtied up for the big weddin’ and doin’s this evening. I, bein’ as there’s an open bar tonight and all, might be actin’ like somebody tomorrow. We shall see.
Talk at y’all later!
Whew - last night was a rough one, much as I expected, and today probably won’t be any picnic either. Turns out Percocet makes my sweetie - how shall I put this?? - toss his cookies. His throat is very swollen and his neck is in a lot of pain. About 7:30 this morning, I had a call in to his doctor for another pain killer. It took several calls to doctor, hospital, and pharmacies to get it all straightened out, and my FIL picked up some different meds some time after noon.
All is quiet right now. The inlaws and their insane terrier are headed south, the patient is sleeping, our dog and cat are relieved that it’s quiet, and I’ve got a load of sheets in the washer. When FCD wakes up, I need to start forcing water into him - I think he’s dehydrated. I told him if he doesn’t start drinking water, I’ll take him back to the hospital. Neither of us wants that.
I was reading the info he downloaded about the procedure he had - according to the article, we expected he’d be kept hospitalized for 2-5 days. He was home in less than 24 hours. I’m wondering how much that has to do with his agony. I feel so helpless - I want to make it all better, but I can’t.
I did go to my ceramics class this morning, and now I feel bad that I did. I offered 2 or 3 times to stay home, but he said he was OK. Apparently he fibbed. But he’s snoozing, so that’s a good thing. I expected today to be the worst day - if I can get him properly hydrated, that may prove to be the case.
Nursing is definitely not my strong suit…
Wow, sounds like FCD is really having a rough time. I can understand the tossing cookies part. Any pain killer that is codeine based will make me extremely ill, for hours on end. I hope that both of you can get some rest FCM.
Mr. Taters is preparing to make a run to the dump. I am going to take it easy today, I think. Well, except for running to the store. I need to pick up a couple of items.
The daughter and her boyfriend went and saw Serenity yesterday afternoon. They both seemed to enjoy it. After they came back from the movie I fed everyone dinner. They boyfriend seemed to like it. He is very tall with dark hair. The daughter is kind of short with blonde hair. They actually make a cute couple.
Well, better get my hair fixed up and head on out to the store now.
The new meds seem to be better - huzzah! He slept, then had a little soup, some water, and a popsicle. He’s sleeping again. Here’s hoping…
Administrivia question: do we know if Rue will do the MMP Monday, or do we go for a third guest host?
I saw this on another site…
The new desk is stained, polyurathaned(sp?), and installed in the office. We loaded up a panel truck this morning with all the stuff for the player’s apartments, only to find out the woman with the keys didn’t come in to work this morning. Our assistant coach talked to her four times last week, twice on Friday, and she assured him she would be there at 9:00 this morning to give us the keys. At 10:15 we finally made someone call the stupid slitch, who said “oh, they’re on my desk - just give them to her.” Grrrrrrrrrr. After traveling all over this huge apartment complex to find the apartments, we discover we don’t have keys to all 7 apartments, only 5 of them. No problem - we just load everything into the 5 we can get into - we’ll straighten it out Monday when we go in to make the beds. Why didn’t we make the beds today? The coach got a call from the company we lease the furniture from early Friday afternoon - his delivery/set-up guys went to lunch and didn’t come back. So no furniture until Monday - and some of the guys are going to be arriving Monday. What a clusterfuck.
Glad FCD got some meds that don’t make things worse! Hope you’re getting your rest, too, FCM.
I really, really want an eclair. Thank goodness I’m already in my pjs so I can’t go to the store.
Because I’m all tired from this weekend, I’ll just reply to swampy’s comment.
Some of them might be in long white dresses, I don’t know. I’ll personally be wearing the t-shirt that I’m going to make tomorrow that shall state in big pink letters either “GAY” or “I’M GAY,” I haven’t decided yet.
Love and best wishes to **FCD ** - i hope he continues to get better
**Vunderbob ** i LOVE that thing - it’s one of my favourites
Well i have spent my four days holiday basically sleeping late and then goofing off for the rest of the day. It has been great! Today i am doing a few little chores so that i don’t have to go to work nekkid tomorrow. I decided to totally revamp my website so i’m doing a lot on that too but otherwise just enjoying the day.
I had dinner twice last night but i don’t feel guilty cos i forgot to have it at all the previous two nights - i don’t know HOW i managed to forget, it just happened. It wasn’t neeps and tatties though - i hate them **and ** haggis.
So, the inlaws are home in FL, we had another rough night here, but I think we’ve turned a corner. We’ve figured out the best pain meds schedule. FCD has his appetite back, and he seems to be able to eat anything, so that’s good. He’s also doing better about fluids. I’m pretty sure it’ll be improvement every day. I may or may not return to work Tuesday - we’ll decide that Monday night.
After 2 days of lots of rain, we’re having a cloudy, no precip day. I looked around the back yard yesterday - LOTS of branches down - we’ve got tons of kindling and firewood. Of course, it’s all wet right about now, but with luck it’ll dry before we need to set it afire.
I’ve made a big batch of sketty sauce, and I’m about to make some tater soup for my sweetie. Life is getting better! But I could use a nap.
but not from our **taters ** right?
I’m glad to hear **FCD ** is on the mend - i know all that waiting must have been tough on you too - go and get your head down for a few hours.
Morning all.
I’m glad to hear that FC Dad is improving and that he’s keeping food and fluids down.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a federal holiday for me, but I have to go down and report for jury duty again. I was looking forward to having Monday off, but nope, gotta go down and be part of a the voire dire process for a trial.
What’s worse, is I seem to have caught a cold again. I just got over a cold! I don’t usually catch colds like this. I am hoping that tomorrow the symptoms will not be as bad. The last thing I want to do is sit in a court room snuffling and sniffing and trying to blow snot or keep snot in my nose. Sheesh.
Ergh. Continuous colds are awful. Binge on vitamin c and herbal teas.
I’m really glad FCD is improving. Give him a hug from me and the kitties, and make him keep it up with the fluids. Take care of yourself, too, FCM. Get lots of rest. Nursing is strenuous.
I am about to clean the fridge out and decide what we’re going to eat this week. Mr. Lissar is going to learn to cook frozen chicken fingers and fish stick and maybe even frozen hamburgers. Nevertheless an all-chicken-finger diet doesn’t appeal to me.
Hmm. I should start planning what to eat next weekend. We’re going up to Attacks Things Randomly Husband’s parent’s farm with Quasi-Daughter and Driving Husband. Five people, four of whom can cook, three of whom will spend all their time beating the snot out of each other. There’s talk of archery and throwing axes, too. And I’ll get to make bonfires. I’m hoping they won’t use axes on each other. We’ll see.
Right. Must pack s’mores stuff. This is exciting! I haven’t been away from the city in more than a year!
