Guest MMP II: A story, moral optional

Yay! Glad FCD is doing ok. I hope his recovery goes well. And Cartooniverse’s son too!

I checked in for my flight just after 9 this morning - 8 hours before the flight - and I ended up in the B group! Sheesh. I’m going to have to start getting up at midnight, logging on, checking in, and printing out my boarding pass in order to get in the A group. Ugh!

Any suggestions on how to get the Terror Cat to stop chasing/attacking my Lily? If I catch her, I squirt her with water. But more often than not, I only hear Lily howling and don’t actually see them. Lily’s not aggressive enough and won’t actually swat Sleepy to get her to stop. And now they’re on their own for the whole weekend. I hope they survive! I really want Sleepy to learn to “play nice” but don’t know how to make her stop being so aggressive. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I had dinner at Long John Silver’s last night. That’s the second time ever that I’ve eaten there, and the second time that I’ve just not been impressed. The hush puppies are good, but the fish or chicken… well, just bleh. Am I missing something or am I just too picky?

It ain’t all that great. Just sometimes I want all the crunchies that come with the fish and fries. Kinda like Mickey D’s or Booger King. Definitely not gustatory delights but sometimes I just get a hankerin’ for it.

I don’t have any ideas, but I will be sure to check on them tomorrow. Listen, can you e-mail me your cell phone # in case something should happen, Og forbid?

And have fun!

That was supposed to be Lil Lestat[sup]TM[/sup]'s birthday. See, his sister, The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] was born by C-section on 2-22 so I thought since he was going to be a scheduled C-section, too, and my due date was right around then, it would be cool if he was 10-10. The added benefit was that 2-22 was Washington’s Birthday and 10-10 that year was Columbus Day. All very Amurkin, don’tcha know. Anyhoo, my plans were foiled by the assisting OB-GYN who was an old school suthrun doc who wouldn’t have anything to do with the Klingon being in the operating room during the C-section…so we had to wait a day for another doc who didn’t care to assist. Long rambling story short, LL is now 10-11.

 Puggie. My anniversary is 3-3!

Only one way to find out… and

I’m currently soaking up the sun in Helena/West Helena, the site of Bluesfest. What? You haven’t heard of either the city or the fest? Neither had I. It takes place in a small town almost on the Mississippi River. There are several things that I just haaave to try (apparently), and one of them is the best mexican food ever, according to my travel guide/friend who is here with me. (She’s originally from West Helena.)

That’s my exciting weekend for you. Yesterday, I went and bought a staple gun (How manly is that?) and some rainbow fabric (for a tablecloth). Later that night, when I was using the staple gun to put up flyers, I cut myself on it. Pretty bad. No, I didn’t staple myself… there was a jam, and I was trying to push the staples out… and well, those metal edges that hold the staples in are sharp! My wound is now covered in Superglue, which is far better than those liquid bandages could ever aspire to be.

The entire previous paragraph was brought to you by the Henderson Queer/Straight Alliance, because Tuesday is National Coming Out Day, and we’re doing stuff on the quad. Hooray. (Y’all should come. There’ll be food. )

If I were closer, I would. Toronto’s a bit of a jog from where you are.

Today is housework day. I’ve already done the ironing and I’m organising the laundry. I have to get everything finished before Quasi-Daughter gets here. Hmm. Actually, maybe I should leave some for her. She likes cleaning.

Why am I so tired?
FairyChat Dad needs doughnuts, FCM. They kill pain and they’re antiseptic.

National Coming Out Day? You mean there’ll be debutantes in long white dresses and elbow length gloves runnin’ around all over everywhere? I think I’ll stay home.

The new sofa and loveseat are here! I’m going to take one of the small cushions with me to Lowes to choose paint samples. Tomorrow I go to set up the apartments for the hockey players, so I get to go to Leslie’s where the stuff has been in storage in her garage since March. That means I get to play with Jethro the minature donkey!!

Doughnuts are good for what ails you!

Hmmm… Cats, Nazis, Cats, Nazis. I can see how your subconscience could make that connection.

I’m glad it’s Friday, except it’s the first Friday of the month, so it’s our ‘First Friday Art Walk’, which means I’ll be in the shop until 9:00 or 9:30 tonight. On the other hand, we’ll make as much money between 5:00 and 9:00 tonight as we typically make all week. Unfortunately, in a kind of anti-climax, I’ll be here for six hours tomorrow with nary a customer. C’est le Vie.

What is with the forums today? Weren’t these Google ads s’posed to result in an infusion of cash for the hamsters? Sheesh!

KeithT and I finally decided what to do with our weekend: hang out in Madison tomorrow and then go to Milwaukee on Sunday, first to the zoo and then to the museum’s chocolate exhibit (how cool is that??) and then out to dinner with his parents. Should be a good weekend as long as Tammy’s remnants don’t delay my flight! Keep all your fingers crossed!

Have a good weekend ev’rybody!

FCD is asleep in his own bed. The ride home from the hospital was a bit rough for him - every little bump in the road jostled him way too much. But once we got him here, he cleaned up, had some taters and carrots (he’s supposed to stay on a soft, bland diet till the swelling in his throat goes down), took some pain meds, and hit the rack.

I’m exhausted, and I haven’t done much of anything today. Them Nazis wore me out! Like I said before, TGIF!

Happy Friday, y’all.

I was supposed to go to work today since I didn’t have to report in for jury duty. However, I woke up at 2:00 a.m with a headache and started upchucking. Not a good thing.

I called my boss’s voice mail at 5:00 am and left a message stating I couldn’t come in because I was sick. Damn, stupid as it sounds, I wanted to go in because I’m sure I’ve got buttload of work to catch up on.

At any rate, after puking for several hours, I finally got some sleep and woke up feeling only slightly better. I feel kinda weak and not all there, but I had to straighten up at least because we’re meeting the daughter’s boyfriend for the first time today. I’d really rather get some more sleep. Maybe I will, and the remnants of this headache will go away.

I’m glad FC Dad is home and apparently doing alright. FCM, you need to get some rest now. You can’t be any help to him if you’re not all rested up.

I think I’m gonna nap for awhile.

Oh , yes. By all means. Here, FCM, just lay your head right here…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Happy to hear FCD is doing well. I was so preoccupied with last nights dinner party, I missed the post.
About the dinner party :smack: The person it was all about, called at 3PM (he lives 2 hours away) to say his parents had dicided to surprise him and drive 6 hours to see him.
The other three people weren’t available by phone, so I started cooking. Then Hubby called, to say he might not make it home for dinner because his dad’s doctor had taken longer than expected.
So, There I was with enough ribs to feed the neighborhood, two dozen perfect eclairs, made completely from scratch, and no idea if anyone was going to show up to eat it.
I must be living right, everyone showed up, even hubby!
Dinner was delish, even if I do say so myself.
There are 5 eclairs left. I need to tape myself to my chair to keep from responding to their call.

Done.

I’ll split the eclairs with the first 4 Dopers who help me out with this. Seems only fair.

Got any leftover entrees left? We’ll be mighty peckish by the time we’re done.

Mmmm…I love eclairs. Too bad you live up there in the Emerald City or I’d come help you eat them.

The daughter and her boyfriend should be walking through the door anytime now. This should be very interesting. I’m making a layered pasta dish with salad and foccaccia bread for dinner. Hopefully, he likes it. I use rotini pasta, marinara sauce, red wine, cream, lots of cheeses, sweet italian sausage, onions, herbs, spices, and layer it all up. It’s pretty filling and pretty rich. I have to make the giganto pan of it tonight though because my nephew and his daughter are coming for dinner too.

The headache is slowly fading, but it’s still kinda there. I hope I get to feeling closer to normal as the day progresses.

Wow, I just met the boyfriend. He is a cutie pie. My daughter has very good taste!

Well, I better go be a good hostess now.

You’re just too good to me. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
