Guest MMP II: A story, moral optional

Donkey, dear, you’re right, that was TMI.

Mmmmm, cheesecake. (Sorry, SCL, I can’t help myself.) I haven’t made cheesecake in ages and ages. Maybe I’ll make some for a special occasion sometime soon. I have a recipe that some friends used for their wedding reception (cheesecake instead of regular cake - wonderful idea, I think). Might be similar to Bumba’s because it’s also rather spendy. It has lots of cream cheese, several eggs, a sour cream topping, don’t remember what else. But yummy.

Tonight’s dinner is mac and cheese (I blame this thread) with fresh tomato added in at the end. Can’t remember what got me started on that, but I really like the contrast between the cold tomato and the hot macaroni. I’m making box mac and cheese (bunnies - they were on sale at Wild Oats). Still pondering veggie sides. Maybe some peas. Or maybe I’ll just be good and have some fruit for dessert and call it dinner. I’ll probably take leftovers in for lunch tomorrow…

Hope you get a brand new car, ems.

I’m sure there’s more, but I need to go do stuff…

Back later.

Even though I’m home early, it’s been a loooong day. The trial that I was juror for finally ended and we spent a good part of the day determining the if the defendant was guilty or not. We found him guilty, but we debated many points of evidence for a long time.

It was not a trial I even wanted to be juror for, but I was chosen. Lucky me. In short, the defendant was accused of knowingly possessing child pornography. Aye, there’s the rub. The word “knowingly” caused a great deal of consternation. The defendant is a “resident” of a facility out on McNeil Island, which is where one our state prisons, along with a sexual predator housing faciltiy are located. We could not take into account where he lived. There was one image (that we know of) of child pornography found on the hard drive of his computer. However, the file was located among music files. There was hard and frank discussion as to how the file came to be on his computer because besides being illegal, it is against the rules for these residents to have ANY sort of pornography on their computers. During testimony, it came to light that files are commonly shared among the residents, along with computer parts. This is against policy. In addition, the types of programs for residents are supposed to be strictly regulated. They are not supposed to having any imaging type of programs. This resident had an “against policy” second hard drive installed on his computer by another resident. In addition, he had an imaging program on his PC. So, we discussed access to his room, who could have put the image there, why anyone else would do it, and if someone put that there, how would he know. But, this was all inferred by the attorney, and not part of the evidence, so we could really use this to come to a decision. Back to square one.

Long story short, we found him guilty. It was very hard, for me anyway. I was trying to do the right thing and look at all evidence presented. Some of the evidence was very muddy, some very skimpy. There were many questions I think should have been asked of the witnesses, that were not asked. Many things were unclear. The state had a couple of really good witnesses, but others were not so good. I think the witness for the defense actually hurt the defense. The defendant did not take the stand. The one piece of admitted evidence, a photo printed from the hard drive of the the defendant’s PC, truly sickened me when I had to look at that photo. We all had to look at the photo. It was quite clear to me, that one of the people in this very explicit photo was a child. She was MAYBE 12 years of age. I know in my heart we did the right thing. Still, it was very hard.

I have to call now and find out if I’m to report in tomorrow.

Oof, taters, sounds like you could use a stiff drink.

Here. Have five stiff drinks, Taters. You need them.
Be proud of me! I assembled the stand on my own! Now I’ve got to move a 6ft 6 inch bookcase, also on my own! Yay.

Fondue and roasted peppers for dinner, and cheesecake for dessert.

Poor Taters, the whole deal sounds just awful. Here’s hoping it’s over after today, and that you all might have helped keep some kids safe and okay.

Maybe it should be ‘snoopish’ scout, to be more clear. Or ‘snoopie’? People who know how to properly use the English language will have to figure it out because that ability fell out of my head somewhere back aways. See?

It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who snoops and then critiques. Though sometimes it’s more like heckling, but they deserve it! The people who don’t deserve the heckling are my family, who have to listen to a constant stream of nit-picky babbling. This may be why so many of them live far away and don’t seem to own TVs perhaps. You should tell Mr. **Puggy ** he’s lucky to have married you instead of me, for more than because you’re spiffy and he loves you and such.

Lissla, you have multiple husbands for a reason. You might want to wait for one of them to help you with the giant bookcase. What it were to squish you like the house falling on the wicked witch?

A wonderful addition to mac and cheese is a blopple of cream cheese. Really truly-- I’m not just trying to unload some of this surplus. I was heeding the advice, sorta, of Julia Childs and having a bit of wine whilst cooking. Suddenly, cream cheese in mac and cheese sounded great and luckily actually was. Which reminds me that Picunurse; those are some darned good sounding recipes. I may have to go buy some more cream cheese just to try them all out.

Pushy garages invite much abuse around here Ellen. Why do architects design that way so often? You shouldn’t wait to landscape though. Just install those motion-activated deer sprinklers so’s to squirt the little squirts. Voila!

Bumba, how does your nose not get in the way of unhooking the bra?

I’m not feeling so good and I don’t know what it is. It could be the flu or it could be that I’m depressed and stressed. Maybe it’s all three like I’ve won a misery trifecta. Yay!

Hey everybody! I’m still out in the middle of nowhere (aka West Virginia), but we finally have internet! I brought my laptop, and I set up my mom’s ibook so she can hook into the internet (yay me!), so I can check up on the MMP at night after Grandma goes to bed. So I’ve been hanging out, petting the cat, eating too much junk food, the usual for a visit to Grandma’s.

I think I get my weirdness from my mom (although I like to think that my weirdness is better in some ways). I got up one morning, and Mom asked if I wanted some breakfast. I told her I wasn’t hungry, and she said she already fixed breakfast, so I said, okay, I can eat a little something, because she’s already gone to the trouble of cooking. I should have had a feeling that something wasn’t right, because she was eating a sandwich with what looked like apple slices on peanut butter. But it’s not apples, it’s radishes. Yep, a radish and peanut butter sandwich. So I went in the kitchen to find out what’s for breakfast, expecting maybe the usual scrambled eggs and sausage, but what we have is veggie gravy on sprouts, some nice wheat bread, and a tin of sardines. I went back to my original plan of not having breakfast. I love my mom, but we have very different ideas about food.

Ashes[sup]2[/sup], I like your idea of putting cream cheese in mac and cheese. Too much cheese is never enough–gotta squeeze in as much cheese as you can! The perfect mac and cheese is mac and cheese and cheese and cheese and cheese.

Taters, you did good. It’s hard to be on a jury. Last time I got called for jury duty, I almost got put on a jury, and it would have been really hard, because I got the feeling that I would have thought he was guilty, but there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him, so I would have felt really bad about that. But I got rejected from the jury, so it was okay.

Don’t look at my floors!

Drving Husband and Dishwashing Husband (who’s trying very hard to get upgraded so he isn’t expected to do dishes) were both here, and neither of them helped me move the bookcase. Driving Husband said it seemed too much like work.

Speaking of work, I should probably exercise a bit before bed. Too much cheesecake and I feel fat.

I won the e-bay auction for 8 paperbacks (one signed) by Charles de Lint! Total including shipping is just over $41, so it works out to about $5 a book!

:::SCL does a little happy dance:::

Just over 2 hours from now, we’ll be leaving for the hospital. He’s scheduled for the operating room between 1:40 and 5:00, and I’m hoping to know his status by 6. Assuming no complications, he’ll be back home tomorrow.

I’m not as scared as I was a week ago, but I’m still not completely at ease - after all, they’ll be hacking a hole in my sweetie’s throat!!!

OK, so that’s not helpful. We all deal in our own ways, right? I’ll try to post tonight that all is fine. I’m supposed to email his boss to tell him all is fine, so I’ll be online later. It’s gonna be a loooooooong day.

Sweetie, never, NEVER do what a couple of your girlfriends tell you to do. Trust me on this one.

You might have put the practicing for that to better use elsewhere. I’m just sayin… :stuck_out_tongue:

scl, watch out! That’s how the endless redecorating cycle starts! There’s still time to run away!

fcm, we’re all sending our very best wishes for fcdad. Let us know how things went as soon as you can.

Tupug

I’ll be thinking of you both today, and offering prayers for a successful surgery and recovery!

Good luck, **FCM **and FCD! I’ll be thinking of you!

And is it totally awful that I’ve already begun the first draft of next week’s MMP?

Draelin just let it flow. Stream of conscious and all that. I’m sure it will be a stellar MMP.

FCM extra prayers are being said for FCD. I’m sure he’ll be just fine.

I was only evil for about half an hour this morning. Yep, already did the meeting with the school. The kid is being mainstreamed like he was supposed to be almost two months ago. This will be followed up on. A certain Special Ed Director was more than willing to cooperate. Guess she’s still sore from the last head buttin’ contest.

donkeybear what tuppy said. Somethings are not met to be fooled with unless surgery is involved. Just sayin’. Oh, and waaaaaaay TMI even for you! :stuck_out_tongue:

ACBG and I are runnin’ away next Thursday, Friday and Saturday in case I ain’t mentioned that yet. We’re goin’ to St. Augustine for a couple of days just for. We made hotel reservations last night. I haven’t been there in a while so it’ll be fun to go look at all that old St. Augie stuff.

I love St Aug! There’s a boat junk store there that has become a pilgrimmage for us. And there’s a winery there that has some niiiiiiice wines.

Have fun! Lucky duck.

The winery is on the must do list. We’re just gonna mess around and do the historic district tour and stuff. Just a nice leisurely couple of days. Heh! A couple of friends hinted about taggin’ along but we made it known that this is a trip just for the two of us. Sometimes that’s just the way it’s gotta be.

I want a burger and fries for lunch. Maybe an apple pie thingy too. I got me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for it.

Prayers for the FC family headed out. As an extra bonus, you won’t get eaten by chihuahuas, either.
Happy birthday to me! I wanna pony an’ a princess castle an’ a fuzzy white puppy. What I’m getting is a television and dvd player, two movies, a video game, and probably drunk tomorrow. Mr. Lissar is probably going to get me a cd/mp3 player. I have received a sarcastic card from my inlaws, too.

Am I too old to be getting presents? I’m a spoiled only child with a strong sense of entitlement. I can’t tell these things.

We’re just about to go out to a buffet for lunch, which means I should haul Mr. Lissar out of bed pronto. Our upostairs neighbour chose to move furniture while wearing heavy boots between 3 and 5:30 this morning. Ergh.

Happy Birthday Lissla!

Prayers for FCD and FCM.

Remember how I said about a month ago that I might be getting a raise? Well, I didn’t. Really sucks to be paying more for everything and not to get paid more. :frowning:

Happy Birthday Lissla. I was singing in the background while swampy was hogging the microphone.

I want something Italian for lunch. I hope I don’t have to settle for Olive Garden.

And I don’t think I’m going to participate in those picture threads anymore. This is the third time I’ve put a picture in, and the only comment I got was about the building I was standing infront of. Obviously, I’m not as good-looking as I’ve been led to believe.
