Guest MMP - Still missing Rue and stuff

I, myself, would only eat the white meat, but I wouldn’t insist that you only make the breasts because I know there are people who like the dark meat. So one vote for “go ahead and make the whole bird”.

I got flummoxed this morning. My cubiclemate is leaving the clerical pool to become a caseworker. The woman who sits across from me asked me this morning (jokingly) if I was going to throw my partner a going-away party. Being the generally oblivious person I am, I thought she was talking about my partner (i.e. supervenusfreak) and just stared at her for about five seconds while my brain thought, “Wait! Where’s he going? And why does she know about it when I don’t?!” Finally I realized she was talking about the cubiclemate, not the partner partner. :smack: It’s a wonder people around here don’t speak very slowly when they talk to me so I’ll be able to understand them…

Well, I finished putting those flyers under doors, and got treated to this.

Other than that, there’s another zit on my penis! This time it’s LARGE and throbbing and red. (the zit, not my penis.) I found it as I was going to bed last night, but the lights were out, so I thought that a small rodent had burrowed its way under my skin.

You guys think that a topical cream, like a benzoyl peroxide thing would be safe on my nether regions?

And I’m pissed off at my movie rental service. They’re the only ones in the world that would stock a movie that was somehow uninteresting, even though it featured Carl Hardwick promininently. (Link is SFW.)

Is the extended family fond of leftovers? If the answer is yes, then do the whole bird.

Dark turkey makes the best sammiches, 'cuz it’s not dry. White meat is better for carving and eating directly.

My inlaws are all carve-and-eaters. Never understood it myself. I luuurves a good turkey sammich.

I vote for Puggy and Drae. I vote for white meat. I vote for a 4-day weekend! ('Cept I’m taking 5.)

I am fond of all parts of the turkey myself. I eat both white and dark. Speaking of turkeys, know what’s great to cook in beans, greens and such? Smoked turkey legs or wings. I love it when I find 'em in the grocery store. So yummy!

donkeybear while that note was not very nice, I’d be one of those people annoyed by stuff shoved under my door. I’m just kinda that way though. I believe I have that movie. I bought it for the art and special effects. Now, go to Spanish class young man!

jayjay bake up a batch of cupcakes. That’d be nice. Or get a chocolate sheetcake from the good bakery.

OOH! I forgot this. I’m going with a bunch of co-workers over to the Dead Lobster for lunch. Ok, the Dead Lobster ain’t my favorite place in the world but it’ll be fun going out to lunch like that. It’s a mad, spontaneous kinda thing cause we just decided to do this fifteen minutes or so ago.

I prefer white mean, but when I make it, it’s not dry at all. I roast my turkey low and slow and the breast comes out soooooooo moist!! YUMMMMMM! However, I do like a nibble or two of dark meat, so I would vote for whole bird.

I also don’t like stuff shoved under the door or left under my windshield wiper or tossed on the front lawn. However, that reaction was uncalledfor. Some people…

I’m home early because I didn’t sleep much last night and I was feeling kinda crappy today. I’d rather feel crappy at home than at work.

Went to the midnoc showing of HP and GOF.

Found something out about my old self: if I am up past 0300–I cannot go to sleep. I am one tired mother today. Kids are still asleep upstairs. I should be so lucky.

Movie was overall good. I started a thread about it in Cafe Society but I am sure it will be closed d/t lack of response. I can’t start threads for sh*t-or so it seems…
I vote for the whole bird–I love the wings. Sorry you’re not feeling well, FCM. And I hope that PICU’s are doing well.
Dead Lobster, eh? Haven’t been there in ages-- I kinda wonder how it stays in business.

The one around here has consistent 30-45 minute wait times for a table. It’s been busy every time we’ve gone.

I have no orders to process. I have no phone calls to make. I have nothing to do but sit and wait for things to come to me. I’ve stamped the outgoing mail, I’ve sorted the incoming mail, and I’ve chatted with the owner’s 11 year old daughter for half an hour. (I explained what a drive-in movie theater is, as well as explaining that yes, I went to the same high school she’ll eventually go to, and yes, I did graduate the same year she was born.)

Now I am sitting at my desk, playing with Silly Putty, waiting to hear back from all my friends about what time we’re going to see Harry Potter tonight. Envy me, for I am frickin’ bored.

Whole bird please. I loves me the dark meat. Every once in a while I eat the drumstick Henry VIII style. This used to make my kids giggle, but now it only makes them go  . Damn kids have a lot of nerve growing up and being embarrassed by their mamma! This year, they are all so grown up that they can’t come to Grandmom’s for Thanksgiving (that and Easter were “her” holidays) so it is going to be a very small bird, and a very small table. Very sad, especially for my mother who has been making remarks about not supposing they could make it and sighing since I arrived back in the states in August. No, Mom, I know we miss them, but none have the money or time to travel from Cleveland to Philly this year. There was a wedding, and college, and just a general lack of cash. I’m sure the kids are feeling a wierd mix of guilt, sadness and relief. Grandmom isn’t always the easiest person to get along with, even if you know she loves you.

Hmmm… People actually like the usually dried out and bland breast? I’ll take a leg, please!

Turkey legs - the perfect walk-around meal! Well, not perfect, but certainly tasty.

The best thing about Lost? Nothing really.

They have cliff-hanger endings (every week, when Lost is over, the Little Woman goes “Argh!” because the leave things hanging. That’s the dogs’ cue it’s time to go to bed.

The characters are slightly more interesting than regular TV people. And they keep fleshing out the back-stories with flashbacks. So, for TV, it’s a fairly involved storyline.

And that one girl was in just her (tiny) underwears a lot last season.

But I can’t seeing the show growing on you. You either like it from the get-go or it’s a big “eh”.

I was out Christmas buying (I don’t want to shop, I just want to buy the stuff and be done) today (my goal is to be all done by Thanksgiving- I’m nearly there) and “Santa Baby” was on in a store. Not the good Eartha Kitt version, but some dumb Muzak version with all the sex boiled out of it. How do you take the sexiness out of “Santa Baby”? They managed it.

Another vote for whole turkey.

Morning (afternoon!), everyone. I am reading a new release called Shadows Over Baker Street: Sherlocks Holmes enters the World of H. P. Lovecraft!. It’s weird. It’s a collection of short stories by Neil Gaiman, Poppy Z. Brite, Barbara Hambly, and a bunch of other authors.

When I saw it I spent about ten minutes staring at it and squinching up my face, trying to imagine what a Sherlock Holmes/Lovecraft book would read like. Then I decided I had to borrow it.

In the first one England is being ruled by Victoria, who is one of the Old Ones from the Drowned City. Weird.

The best animal story I got this week:
This cat came in for vaccines and a check-up. She had this BB sized lump on her back. The vet-guy squeezed and poked at it for a little while and s’p’quikk (the actual sound it made, only amplified) the zit popped.

No one got hit by the flying zit juice.
It was a pretty quiet week, story-wise.
Other than the dog with probable pyometra (look it up- I ain’t saying), and a definite case of heartworms so we can’t fix the pyometra problem without killing her. If there were only, I don’t know, a pill or something you could give you dog, maybe once a month or so, that could keep them from getting a heartworm infection.

Where is Science when we need it?
Also, if you let your dog wander around unaccompanied “for exercise”, you’re playing Russian Roulette with your beloved pet and Acute Impact Trauma is the jackpot.

 cubby, you’re fighting hard to keep that TMI award, aren’t ya? I’m not a guy, but I really don’t think I’d be putting benzoyl peroxide on sensitive areas.

How is picuhubby doing today? I hope he’s healing up okay. There’s nothing worse than seeing someone you love get hurt. I’d rather get hurt myself than see it happen to anyone I care about.

taxi, you know you can’t tell us about yummy cakes without sharing the recipe! We’re impatiently waiting for the coconut-chocolate cake recipe. I’m making a Mexican chocolate cake this weekend. If it turns out to be yummy, I’ll post the recipe.

Wile E, your kitties are too funny! We need more cat-beating-up-dog stories. Much better than weird-things-popping-out-of-dogs-or-cats stories. I’m trying not to think about that too much.

Another vote for whole turkey. I like the white meat myself, but not everyone does.

I’ve watched Lost a couple of times. It’s good, but it comes on the same time as other shows I like better, so it usually loses. So I have no idea what’s going on right now, but I’ll probably watch it again.

So I got a cup of yummy Mocha Java coffee this morning, and I took a sip of it, felt something drip on my chest, and the top had come loose and I spilled a good bit of coffee all down the front of my shirt, which is now purple-and-brown tie-dye. I like tie-dye, but those aren’t the most attractive colors. I’m not sure what happened, because the lid was on tight and I already drank over half of the coffee without spilling anything. Maybe it was a defective lid. Good thing I wasn’t wearing a white shirt.

Responses are running highly in favor of The Whole Bird … 10 to 2, in fact, with only Dolores and Draelin’s Grandmother in favor of breasts.

So, unless some breast supporters come out of the woodwork and make your case for Breasts Standing Alone <snerk>, I’ll probably get me a big ole whopping turkey and cook it all day long.

Did I mention I’m having Thanksgiving on Friday? I am. I declare Thanksgiving at My House to be on Friday. That way EVERYBODY can come, and I can spend the actual day cleaning house and roasting the turkey, and oh, probably making panicky broccoli cassarole and oh-my-god-we-aren’t-going-to-have-enough-dessert-pumpkin pies. And probably cookies. And I can see myself madly peeling potatoes because I imagine my mother won’t make enough, because, she’ll say, “there will be so many dishes that people won’t eat all that many mashed potatoes.”

Ol’ Bernie had heartworms and we didn’t have the $$ to have the treatment done, so the vet suggested we just put her on the preventive and see how it went. 2 years later, she’s heartworm-free! Now, either it’s a fluke, or it is possible to rid a dog of heartworm by giving the monthly pill. It’s anecdotal, but it’s true!

Oddly enough, now that it’s the same time that my work day would have ended, I’m not feeling so ick. Coincidence???

I actually don’t care for Thanksgiving turkey. I do eat turkey (white meat) but on turkey day, I generally fill up on the things like stuffing and cranberry sauce that I don’t have very often. I have even SKIPPED the turkey in favor of that stuff!

Oh, and in my humble (and expert) opinion, Beano doesn’t work. I’ve tried it.

ellen, I’ve cooked both the bresstes and whole turkeys before and I thing the whole bird has an overall better flavor. FTR I like both white and dark meat. It’s the Amurikin way.
