Ok, I’ll try sword/pistol.
Hmm. I have the seal/signet with the passive “small heal by doing dmg” effect. What heal skill are you talking about?

Keep moving, thieves are very fragile. Also ambush trap is great, that thief you get can easily solo an equal level mob or two. Thieves guild elite will easily let you drop veterans higher level than you. Make use of your combos, short bow poison field (4) + the explosion blast (2) = area weakness, dagger pistol 5 + 2 = stealth. The trait that gives whole group fury might and swiftness on steal is awesome, specially when your helpers are up. Shortbow is one of the best weapons you can use, almost always worth one of your weapon slots. Edit: just saw your last post, i much prefer the heal/stealth move as you can use that as a escape tool or to get the mobs to focus on your thieves rather than you.
Wow. That’s a lot to digest. Give me a couple days…
It’s the first heal skill you start out with.
Movement is the key to success with all classes in this game but even more so for players who want to melee with less than a guardian or warrior. I know I fall into that group because I love dual daggers on my necro. But constant movement is what the thief was designed for. If you played GW1 you can see that it is based on the 'sin. I’m only level 10 on my thief but have yet to die (rally doesn’t count as a death). The shadow step skills are great- like Infiltrator’s Strike which lets you jump in, get a couple of hits and then jump back out.
Well, I’m up to level 8 and only dying five times per hour. Maybe more. My elementalist is basically doomed in a lot of battles, and what’s frustrating is it’s often hard to tell which fights I can handle and which I can’t; the level of an opponent is not always a good indicator.
As a necro, healing needs to be an integral part of your routine, especially if you’re handling more than one mob at a time. I’ve got a 62 Necro now and I always start multi-fights wherever I can, since the two damage Wells stacked on top of each other will take nearly half a same-level mob’s HP on its’ own. Once the damage Wells run out, I’ve usually taken down the focused mob and have 1-2 other mobs at half health. Pop a healing well to give me a boost (and so the cooldown is ready for the next fight) then focus them down one by one. I usually use dagger+focus, with sceptre+focus for ranged fights and groups or against AOE heavy enemies.
The mobs aren’t balanced like they were in KOTOR, where you could predict almost 100% how you were going to deal with a mob based on just their level and rank. This threw me a lot when I first started. Especially Destroyers have annoyingly high damage for their level.
I’ve died a lot also with an elementalist. I finally gave up and went back to a ranger. I can’t quite grasp the AOE effects, and my ranger has a few AOE skills that I can practice with while also being able to defend myself. Even being very careful I often stumble into creatures that can thump me into a paste just by accident. I have learned not to be ashamed of running away :D.
I’ve decided I really like the way they handle the events, at least in the early game. (My ranger is just level 11 now.) It’s fun to stumble on a group of people fighting some nasty MOBs and pile on in. If I’m on my way somewhere else I just run on past. At first I felt obligated to participate in every event I encountered, but now I understand I don’t need to do that. I’m just beginning to get a handle on crafting, and that seems like it will be pretty cool once I get my skills up.
I was doing well on my elementalist using daggers and water attunment. (Casts “hoops” that come back for a small heal.)
I don’t know if it was mentioned earlier, but when you click on a monster, underneath its health in the target bar will be some powers listed. These are special things the monster can do and will give you a hint on what you’re up against.
With my Ranger, I’ve had very little problem doing hearts or events in the open world. I only get killed if a third or fourth group (especially one with a veteran) gets brought into the fight. (That’s one of the fun things about Axes for Rangers–they bounce around and sometimes bring adds.) My pet takes most aggro and I can kite or otherwise handle anything that tries to melee me.
Where I have been having trouble is the undead monsters in my personal story. They seem to bee-line to me despite whatever my pet and NPCs do. I can one or two things chasing me, but when five or six are chasing me, it’s just not possible to dodge everything. I ended up zerging (kill one monster, die, rez, kill another, die, …) to complete two quests. Very annoying.
Yeah, we complained about this earlier. (See posts 51, 62, 63 for example)
It’s like the normal aggro rules don’t apply in Personal Story quests.
For those in the Burning Dog Legion, I’ve started the process to get a guild bank. We still need something like 900 more points to actually get it.
Anyone else interested in joining? (The more who play, the faster we can get the points to build things.)
Oh good. I was meaning to do that, but I haven’t actually played in a while.
It’s these sort of things that make me happy I’m not paying a subscription fee
Invite my warrior ‘Parzival H’. I’ll stop him from repping ZoS.
I’m not usually a super-active guild member, but you can invite me - Northern Shiverpeaks, right? My Ranger is Mark Junior.
Joe
Northern Shiverpeaks is where I started the guild, but you don’t have to be on that server to join; guilds are global in scope.
I’ll post my info later.
Question:
Do I have to provide info on each of my characters in order for them to be in your guild, or just one will do?
In other words, must each character join a guild, like WoW, or is membership like a blanket that covers all the characters on my account?
It covers all of them. But I’m pretty sure you choose which guild to represent on a per-character basis, so you can have different characters representing different guilds.
So, to actually answer your question: one character name will suffice.
Ok, thx.
