I’m actually curious about such stats as:
How many posts are in the longest thread in the database?
What are the average and median lengths of threads (in terms of posts)?
What is the longest duration of a thread (i.e., the time between the OP and the last post)?
What are the average and median durations of threads?
Any hope of seeing those stats?
If you mean, is there any hope of a moderator doing that kind of work and digging for you: nope. Think of a snowball in Hades.
If there’s some member with lots of time on their hands and nothin’ else to do who wants to work on 'em… well, I dunno.
One of your stats is very easy to find. Specifically, average thread length. Just go to the front page, add up all the posts, add up all threads, and divide. It’s currently at 19.432, if I did the math right. You can also get the average in each of the different forums, which varies a bit. Determining the maximum posts in a thread in a given forum is pretty easy too. The last time I checked, it was a thread called a which was closed with 5338 posts. The longest (in terms of character count) thread is most likely the Lord of the Rings thread in Cafe Society.
Determining the median for each forum is harder but still possible without running a huge search.
I see. With a little thought, one can easily uncover the simple statistics, using the info already present in the forums (and the sorting feature).
:smack: I feel better now…
