Gulf of Mexico Earthquake

Gulf Quake around 11am Sept 10
Anyone in the Southeast feel it?
I felt it–what a weird feeling–but our house is on stilts and sometimes sways a teeny bit if it is windy outside, so I wasn’t all that alarmed. Then I find out I’d been in a 6.0 'quake. Yikes.

Wow. Missed it. I guess I was sleeping too soundly  .

Here’s the USGS feely map.; reports all the way from western Louisiana to southern Florida.

Probably just a mantle plume working it’s way towards the surface.

Nah, it’s just God’s way of telling us to leave that big pool of oil they just found there alone and get on with developing alternative fueled vehicles.

Central Florida east coast here and we didn’t know about it until we read it.

When my Dad mentioned it, I was certain he got the “Florida” part wrong.

But the epicenter was offshore.

My Mom is down there, visting my Brother, Sister, Brother-in-law, & my Niece.

My LCD-Monitor started to shake but i didn’t feel any vibrations myself. First i thought it was anomaly caused by subwoofer but later i found thread about it in other forum.

I was actually on the beach at the time of the quake, but didn’t feel it at all. Only heard about it a few hours ago.

People as far away as Atlanta felt it and I live in an area close to the epicenter and I felt nothing. The earth didn’t move for me! Dangitall!

We felt it here; very slight, but certainly noticeable. If you checked the map link, I’m right in the middle of that group of reports from east central Alabama.

I was about to start a thread on the earthquake, because I felt it, but could not find anything about it on the news or not. Everyone I know thought I was starting to go crazy.

I live in Carrollton, Ga, and I felt it!

BTW: This is my first official post as a SDMB member. I guess I am finally paying for my share of the bandwidth.
