Gun owners, what is your favorite?

Susanann,
I was supporting what you said in the “police chases” thread and if I remember correctly women protecting themselves was the topic.

My reason for owning (and carrying) is “I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it” (and I am a LARGE man).

My suggestion is train, train, train (thats what I do), “hope for the best but train for the worst”.

I know you were, and I thank you!!

I only wanted to make clear that guns are not just for women to better defend themselves, but the men, and police officers too.

Too many OTHER people(not you) question and try to belittle how well a woman can handle a gun, yet do not question the men, the secret service, or those police officers who carry guns for selfdefense.

So, no responses to my question about a Bersa?

Yeah, Card, I’m pretty sure that’s post-cold-war trash. Stick with something better known, you’ll be happier. An old arm in good repair is better than a questionable new arm.

Oh yeah. Brady. That wimp. Took a bullet to the brain, and has the temerity to not be pleased about it.

How very un-American of him.

Bersa is like a “wanna be fake copy” of Berretta.

Get the real thing, get a Beretta.

The difference in price between Bersa and Beretta is not that much, to get a proven quality gun from Berretta.

cartooniverse if you can’t stick to the spirit of the OP take it to the pit…

Oddly enough, Brady seems to be interested in taking away the rights of law abiding citizens.

That’s a shame. I wish I were a politician so that I could outlaw cars, since I’ve been struck by one.

Doesn’t that sound stupid if you put it that way? It’s the exact same thing.

Back on OP: As I said, I’m planning on buying in February. So nobody here as any shooting experience with the CZ 75, or any CZ in general?

Yeah, I shoot skeet regularly - most weekends I break 50 birds or so, and I recently shot in a skeet league (came in 1st in my class in the tournament at the end too). I’ve shot trap and sporting clays a bit, but not competitively. I think the best part of the clay sports is getting to see the bird break up, it’s very satisfying and not like highpower where you shoot then look in a scope to see if you hit.

I’ve also shot in IPSC matches before, they’re a lot of fun but don’t suit me as well as the clay sports. One thing I like is that IPSC has cut down on the racegun phenomenon, the production, limited, and limited-10 categories (plus revolver) are quite popular and don’t take a $2500 ray-gun looking gun. And one of these days I’ll try a 3-gun match, though an AR would probably be a better rifle than a Garand for it. (BTW, I think you’re conflating IPSC and IDPA above in your abbreviations, they are pretty similar).

Tristan I had a CZ75. It’s a pretty good pistol for the money (under $400, IIRC). I enjoyed firing it. One thing I thought was a pretty cool option - there’s a conversion kit available for it to fire 22s. I didn’t get it, and I don’t know how common that is, but I did think it was interesting. Good luck.

I had a Bersa Thunder .380. This was a pretty good gun, cofortable to shoot and fairly accurate. The thing only cost like $240.00. It is similar in size to a Wather ppk/s. I had a few mis-feeds with some less expensive ammo. The gun is made by Llama.

All in all not bad for the price. I like a round bigger than the .380 ACP though.

Thanks for the correction, Riboflavin. I’ve watched the IPSC stuff on OLN, and noticed that they had introduced new classes to compete in.

I shoot registered targets in trap and sporting clays, although I have yet to join the sporting clays association. I shoot skeet just for funsies. I just got a used Browning BT-99 last March, and my averages in 16 and handicap have jumped from the high 80’s to the mid-90’s (Plus, going from 5000 to 8000 targets this year helped). Sschweeet!!
