I carry every day, all day.
I keep the Safety On, no Round in the Chamber.
Also, I usually carry my pistol in my jacket pocket.
How about you?
Still waiting on my CCW (Texas), but I plan on regular carry “on safe”, 1 in the pipe (Beretta), 6 o’clock IWB (if I can find a holster) or fanny pack.

How’s that going? I was under the impression that getting a CCW/LTC in Texas was about as simple as buying stamps. I gave the “short version” of getting licensed in MA on P 1. It seems sort of arbitrary here. Although the qualifying points are pretty straight forward - no history of mental illness/institutionalization, no felony convictions, and a few others, at the end of the process, the Chief Of Police in the city the applicant resides in has the final say-so for licensing. His authority is “The Buck Stops Here” kind of a deal. The Chief in the town I used to live in didn’t even know me, but wouldn’t sign off on my LTC, and at the time I don’t think I was even applying for a carry permit - just a “Club License” (You can only carry if it’s incedental to going to the Fish & Game Club, and you can’t carry a loaded weapon). So I waited. And Post Sept. 11, it was a walk in the park.
I plan on carrying a 1911 style pistol chambered for the 10mm. Outside waistband, 4 o’clock or crossdraw. I will carry condition 1 (cocked, one in the chamber, safety on).
Unless I end up with a Glock, then my choices are limited to just whether or not I want a round in the chamber.
Seems that some posters are so darned busy misinterpreting the 2nd Ammendment to the United States Constitution that they’re tossing the rest of 'em out the window. Might want to brush up on that whole 1st Ammendment thing, m’kay? I read the Title of this thread, and answered.
Winston? Pot Kettle Black much? You’ve got roughly 213 posts to your memer name, and yet mysteriously are incapable of A)Spelling a commonly used word, AND B) Using the Preview option offered by SDMB.
Illiterate, but heavily armed. Precious
I’ll favor you with my departure, I made my point here. Oh, and if you feel you want to go to G.D. with this, I sure hope you folks have some dandy stats on deaths due to handguns… it’ll get very ugly very fast. I’m not the only Doper whose life has been very directly altered by the use of a handgun in the United States.
My Kind? How very open-minded of you…My Kind. Well gee, welcome to the National Rifle States of America, a new and special kind of country where Your Kind and My Kind get to face off over a speedloader and mercury-filled hollow-point loads.
Lovely.
Cartooniverse
Anyone have any suggestions on what hangun to get that has pre-ban high capacity magazines readily available?
What about these mercury-filled hollow-point loads? Are these what the well heeled gangsta carries these days?
I think most of the Glocks do (BTW, hi-cap is a misnomer, as the firearms were designed that way, today they are sold with reduced cap magazines), and there are some 1911 derivatives that I’ve seen at the occasional gun show.
Don’t really think they could afford it, I think their preferred load is either the cop-killer Teflon coated bullet-proof vest penetrating round ™ or the super-high-powered sniper round ™ which can penetrate an engine block.
In Texas it’s a background check (with a million questions) done by the highway patrol ($140.00, non refundable if you fail), a 10 hour class, fingerprints and annual renewal,I spend so much time offshore that I just have not done the class yet.
It looks like the “anti’s” are trying to take over this thread (I knew it would happen).
As far as carrying a gun making you immune (or whatever you said) to crime, no one (except you) said that and I firmly believe that no one thinks that BUT a armed, trained woman has a MUCH better chance against crime than an unarmed, untrained woman period.
If I could get a Custom Avatar, it would read…
Illeterate, but heavily Armed.
Insult or not, I think it’s funny as hell.
Why don’t you quote the part of the first amendment where it restricts private individuals from telling someone else to shut up and stop being an idiot? I seem to have missed that.
IT’s also ironic since you apparently feel that someone responding to you in kind (and using only words, mind you) is some kind of invitation to a duel of some sort (see the ‘National Rifle States’ bit with the mercury and speedloaders).
“Ugly” for your side, as always seems to happen. I can picture your great argument now: “Oh gosh, the US has a high murder rate, it must be due to the fact that law-abiding people are allowed to own handguns! Ban 'em!”
Yup, there are several who would have been raped or killed if gun laws were up to you. That’s pretty sick on your part, but I’ve come to expect it.
I can’t even figure out what’s supposed to be close-minded about calling anti-gunners ‘your kind’. Still, I don’t know how much I want to know about the thought processes of the pro-rape, pro-murder, anti-self-defense crowd.
What are you even trying to say here? Are you challenging me to a gunfight, or are you trying to say that disagreement with you is the same as the threat of physical violence, or what?

mercury-filled hollow-point loads.
[QUOTE]
Can someone fill me on on what mercury-filled hollow-points are supposed to do anyway? Two idiots have been rambling on about them in this thread, so there must be some kind of brady bunch scare going on.
Nah, just one, and it appears to have made it’s point and vamoosed.
Back on topic, if I could ask again, anybody shot the new Beretta Neo? Also, does anybody compete re trap, skeet, silhouette, IPSA, cowboy?
Sorry, this was a response to another thread.
I have not had the chance to shoot a NEOS yet, or shoot in any competitions, but I want to do both (I spend most of my time offshore and it cramps my style).

My personal favorites:
remington 700 in .30-06, and an 8X scope, (reach out and touch someone)
Tricked out Les Baer custom shop .45
1928 Thompson with a 50 round drum magazine. God bless the Tommy Gun, I’d still choose one of these to go door-to-door. Even as a semi-auto, I can still pull the trigger fast enough to destroy anything and everything. Plus, the heavy weight makes it highly controllable. Plus, it made one of my hot co-workers (casey) really wet and bothered and I ended up getting a handjob from her.
Gotta agree on the S&W platform for the .44 magnum. Add a 6 1/2" barrel and some Pachymr grips and it is suprisingly controllable. Use it in single action mode and it’s really damned accurate.
Stay away from belltowers…
Favorite? that would be the heavy action Mauser with the bull barrel in 30-06 and the redfield scope. I fit the barrel to the action myself and put in the set trigger, tuned and fire lapped it, and built the scope mount. Incredible, even frightening reach. I agonized over each line of checkering on the stock, and the barrel inletting took me a year.
Next in line is the Savage side-by-side in 20 gauge. Put a lot of rabbits on the table. A hard and ugly gun which has a 60+ year history of being dragged through heavy brush in search of dinner. Each scar has a story; grampa told me some, dad told me others, some are mine own.

(Almost) clueless wonder here.
I’ve been to www.gunbroker.com, and I poked around until I found this: http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=6603009
Is a Bersa some kind of eastern European junk that it sounds like? I’ve never heard of it. I just think I like the looks. Opinions please.
Sad news: www.thefiringline.com will soon be taken down.
Does anyone have any experience buying guns from gunbroker.com?
Also, does anyone have any experience with the CZ 75b? I’m thinking of picking one up in February with part of my tax return and I’m really eager to get feedback!
I like auction arms better.
Completely satisfied, good prices and selection.
As in anything, let the buyer beware.
I see that you are supporting us, and thank you very much, we appreciate it, but sometimes even support can come accross as condesending.
What has being a male or female got to do with it? or what your job is?
To paraphrase what you said, I personally ALSO believe that an armed, and trained MALE police officer has a MUCH better chance against crime than an unarmed, untrained policeMAN.
Yes, it is true that just because a policeman carrys a gun does not guarantee that no cop will ever die. Nothing is “totally” immune. Even presidents get murdered.
But what are the odds of anyone being a vicitm if they are armed, versus if they are unarmed?
Why does anyone question whether an armed civilian male or female, is better off, but they dont seem to question why cops carry guns for self-defense?
Why do most cops carry guns?
Why do the secret service carry guns?
