Guys only? How about girls? I keep one in my car at all times. It’s very useful to have a blade sometimes!
I too have both a vagina and a penknife, apparently disqualifying me or something. I have a Swiss army knife, my SO carries a little Opinel. I tease him that his fancy-schmancy Opinel is useless when faced with a bottle of wine.
Recently, I was telling my sister-in-law that I was sad that we didn’t have anything to remember my grandparents-in-law by. (There was massive family dramarama over the stuff, and my wise man stepped out, so we ended up with nothing. Not even a tea towel, which I literally would’ve been thrilled with. I was really sad, because I adored both of them and I’m guess I’m just a ditzy idiot who likes to have a little thing to remember someone by.) My wonderful SIL then talked to my FIL, and they dug out a very old Opinel that used to belong to Opa (GFIL) for me. It is absolutely gorgeous, and he always took great care of it so it was perfectly sharp and the handle shiny. I am over the moon! It’s just so him, too. It means so much to me.
I still carry a Wenger SA knife but not the one I originally posted. IMHO, Wenger scissors are far superior to Victorinox and will cut through most things in a pinch. The Phillips screwdriver is handy too.
I bought one of these little Gerber razor knives and really recommend them. As inexpensive as it is, it’s nice and smooth and solidly built.
Yes. Since childhood. A Laguiole knife, carbon steel (they don’t make those anymore, so a bit difficult to find. In fact, nowadays, most laguiole knives are produced in…China), wood handle (rosewood or olive tree wood. I’m pretty specific).
This pool will be massively biaised towards people who carry knives. I wouldn’t have opened a thread asking about something I don’t usually carry.
Yes. Victorinox “Deluxe Tinker”. I use the screwdriver and the scissors almost as often as the knife blade.
I’m not a man, but I have two Spyderco Manbugs, which I bought to replace a Ladybug that was stolen. The serrated one goes with me, and the plain blade stays in my car. I have a cheap but cute little lady leg knife that I carry sometimes. I also carry a titanium spork in my purse, but I don’t think that counts.
I have bought my husband several knives, of which my favorite was a SOG Stingray with a mother-of-pearl handle. It got lost.
Why do you say Guys? I have a Swiss Army knife that goes everywhere with me in a pocket on my chair and a small Swiss Army on my keychain. Use them at least twice a week on avarage.
Of course I do! It’s not a kirpan or anything fun, but I don’t mind that the blade is smeared with hardened epoxy putty.
I always carry a knife, even around the house. My current carrys are a Kershaw Skyline and a Kershaw Leek D2. Folks are always asking if anyone has a knife they can borrow.
My guess is because the thread was directed to Guys.
Female. Mini-Leatherman in shoulder bag and car.
I just replaced the mini leatherman that I mentioned had died at the beginning of the thread. That is, I replaced the one I’d replace it with that my wife stole, then buried in the plants at the airport when she tried to go through security with it, then lost, then replaced. Good times. I just got one for Cheerleading Dropout when she left for [del]nerd[/del] engineering camp.
Yes, but I’m a carpenter.
