Wow, I assumed it was going to be a kids’ movie. Apparently not!
Pixar isn’t involved in this. Looks like it could be pretty funny, though. I mean, a weed-smoking hot dog? Genius!
What does a hot dog eat when it gets the munchies?
I was going to say that with a title like Sausage Party there wasn’t a chance in hell that it was a movie I’d want to see. Then I found out that it wasn’t a movie whose title was about how it sucks that there aren’t any women in it, and that it’s a movie about a literal sausage. So there’s even less of a chance in hell that this is a movie I’d want to see.
I plan to see it. Looks pretty cool.
That potato getting peeled was really well [DEL]baked [/DEL] done.
Wow, looks like it could be really good (or really terrible). I have to say that having a heavily R-rated trailer is never a good idea, even when the film is rated R. It gets the film dismissed as being way too ‘edgy’ and using vulgarity just for vulgarities sake (especially with a comedy). Worse, I suspect they only did this to make it absolutely clear that this is NOT a Pixar kid’s movie.
Yep-That’s the reason Deadpool flopped.
For adults if they have the sense of humor of a twelve-year-old stoner.
Could be genius. Could be stupid. C’mon, how does a hotdog care about how food is treated, considering how hotdogs are made? There might be something deep here, or more likely, a double dose of LSD is required.
I suspect once the critics see who was involved in making this movie, they’re pretty much going to turn their nose up at it anyway.
After seven reviews, it’s at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
I didn’t see a “seen it” thread for this. Can we start one here without creating a whole new thread, or are zombies taboo here? Been a minute since I’ve been Doping regularly…
I saw it yesterday afternoon, and I liked it well enough, although I wish I’d been able to see it with my regular movie-going crew. I was the only one in the theater yesterday! Pretty heavy-handed atheistic message, which was surprising to me, but I didn’t know that much about it going in. The orgy scene was also particularly surprising
Do the hot dogs have wieners with which to orgy with?
I liked it, and the Rotten Tomatoes rating (82% critics rating) was higher than I’d expect for what looked like a silly parody of the Toy Story films. And the New York Times review was very complimentary to the religious and philosophical discussion in the film.
But the thing with these computer-generated animated films is that it’s very easy to hide easter eggs and inside jokes in the backgrounds of various scenes, so it might be worth it to watch the DVD or Bluray with my finger over the pause button.

Hated it. What a surprise, another movie filled with homophobic jokes from start to finish.
To be fair, they kind of made jokes about everybody. I don’t think every movie needs to be politically correct. I normally don’t enjoy “bro” humor, but I thought it was pretty clever.
However, I’ve changed my tune a bit after I found out what the animators had to go through in order to bring the movie in at its ridiculously low $19 million budget. Many of them weren’t paid, were forced to work unpaid overtime and if they refused, their credits were removed from the film. Pretty shitty way to treat your workers. If I’d known that, I probably wouldn’t have gone to see it.
You were surprised at an orgy in a movie called Sausage Party?
Same here. It’s a shitty, shitty situation that I can’t believe was allowed to happen. Aren’t there laws in place to protect people from that kind of thing?
