Trade: You no longer have the scroll.
Copy: I make my own copy of your rule, which I can now offer a look to others. Not permitted.

If I have the scroll to start with and you’re the other party in the trade…
If I trade it to you, you end up with the scroll and I don’t.
If I let you look at it, I end up with the scroll and you don’t.
If copying were allowed and we copy it, we both end up with the scroll.
But either way, we both end up knowing what’s on it.
And having the scroll is important because it gives you more leverage to trade with the info - if you don’t have the scroll and try to trade for it, people might pay less because they can’t be sure they’re getting valid info.

That’s fine. And note that you ‘can’ trade with non first hand info in this game, but because it’s not necessarily to send out the rule correctly, it’s not necessarily as worthwhile for the purchaser.
