Haggle: The Dragon's hoard [closed]

Zotti hums silently for a long time looking at Antinor01’s treasures. “Twenty-four copper pieces, forty-five for fifteen electrum pieces, 2 more worthless lead pieces, two garnets worth seven each, seventeen for the copper bracelet with peridot, and twenty-five for the platinum necklace with an agate. That makes one-twenty-five by my count.”

Oredigger77, you have three copper pieces, three platinum pieces worth a total of 24, and - ooh, what was that?” Oredigger’s gray wand suddenly takes effect with a whoosh of magical color, knocking Zotti against a wall. “Okay, let’s see, you now have ten electrum pieces, worth three copper pieces each. All of your jewelry has been turned into electrum too - good thing for you that the gems inside were protected against wand backlash. An electrum bracelet with tanzanite will get you seventeen, each electrum earring with carnelian would be eighteen, and the electrum necklace with lapis would be twenty-two. Counting your collectible rule, you get up to one hundred and thirty-eight.”

Heh, well I was close!

Well at least I was in the upper half. If I’d gotten of one more good trade I could have passed Phi/AT I think. Anti When did you know about the green potion and why didn’t you try to trade it away?

phi2dao, ArizonaTeach, you aren’t talking much are you? Okay, let’s see… yes, you’ve combined all of your potions, which explains all of this lead in your friend’s bags. Nasty trick, wasn’t that? Aside from that, you’ve got one copper piece, thirty-two electrum pieces between the silver converted by the gray wand and the stuff that was electrum to start with, which will be worth ninety-six. And here’s some gold, actual gold, twelve pieces worth, for another forty-eight.”

“You’ve got an agate gem, and this was once a zircon, but it looks much the same after the wand backlash - nine copper for each of them. Fifteen for an electrum bracelet with malachite, seventeen for a gold bracelet with citrine, 30 for one gold earring with emerald, and thirty-five for a platinum ring with a ruby. Didn’t you have two collectible scrolls too? Can’t find them? Well, isn’t that a shame.”

“Total value sixty and two hundred, split between you that’s just 130 each.”

Zotti’s stomach rumbles. “Hate to leave you waiting like this, but I need to stop by ye old fantasy tavern and pick up some pizza for dinner.”

I found out about the potion from Arizona about a week ago. Who then immediately started offering to “take it off my hands for a price” I figured there was more to it than rule 21 had to say. I also figured it was either 20 or 22 that gave the additional info and when Arizona/Phi basically dropped out I decided to just not claim it in my final portfolio.

::: takes off his duct tape :::

I lucked out, and got rid of one of my potions early on. I got rid of it, simply because I didnt want to risk what it was going to be later.

(I had no rules with potion, in my starting kit.)

They worked me over for my other potion, and I more or less just “got” that I Wasnt going to be able to overcome the negative potion rule, for the positive.

I was also working on Copper at that point. But that will be for an other post.

“Alright, I’m back, brought plenty of pizza for everyone, dig in please,” Zotti mumbles with his mouth full.

“Let’s see now… sinjin. One little copper piece again, and also one silver that’s worth two. 4 LEAD pieces, 10 electrum, (comes up to thirty,) and eight platinum (worth sixty-four,) after you used your wand on them. Also a malachite gem worth six, too little to be hit by backlash, a lead necklace with an onyx that’s worth 12, and a copper necklace with a sapphire, thirty. That comes up to… one hundred and forty-five.”

"But Meeko, you clever son of a half-elf, you’ve gathered enough copper that they’ll buy it at a higher price down at the bronzeworks - thirty-four silver pieces for your thirty-four copper. Add in the true silver piece that you have, one electrum piece, five platinum pieces, (at eight BCP each,) that pretty ruby worth 27, and 18 for your collectible scrolls, and you’ve got 158 BCP in the end, and that makes you…

WINNER OF THE DRAGON’S HOARD HAGGLER CHALLENGE!"

(Unless there’s a successful appeal against my math, logic, or recollection of the pertinent facts at end of game.)

Hm, I wasn’t as bad off as I thought. Congrats Meeko! You definitely deserve it, you seemed like you were working the hardest of anyone.

Wow, I did better than I thought considering I didn’t know most of the rules. Cool. Fun game see ya later guys!

Sorry guys I posted this on my lovely little daughter’s computer. See ya.

I’m not exactly sure how you mean this Fish, but I did discover, that being an active trader is an unwritten asset to this game.

Now that things are said and done. Do you guys understand why I disclosed 10 in public?

I’m not sure that I do, no

Even though I have told you Chris…

If you look at my actions with 10, I knew that it would be a big rule. I offered it to Thing Fish early on, because I knew that I could ask a huge price for it, and I thought I would get it. At the same time, I knew he knew why I would ask.

It was my intention that he would pay for it, and I would sell hearsay. For copper. Of course.

At the same time, also, I was working to give change to people. I think Sinjin came in, and asked for nearly the same deal, in reverse. I figured, if I was to get the copper, I needed to let it go for cheap. Then he added the platnium, and I knew I had 30 copper.

I wanted to sell the rule, to multiple players, so that I would “freeze” copper. I didn’t have takers, and I withdrew.

At a certain point in time, it dawned on me, that no one knew how good of a rule it was. If only a few people got it, they would probably make the 30 copper trigger as well.

That being said, I figured if I showed all, for free, no one would dare trade away copper. Of course, I had to have 30 before I did this.

The paradox of value did cross my mind around the time I dropped 10.
