HAHAHAHAHA.... You people are NOT going to believe what Mrs. Chef gave me!

Cheffie - can it karaoke regular music from tape? Cause I have a song on tape that I doubt you have on your cds  (and no, it’s not belly dance music)

Yes, although I’m not sure it can remove the vocals from a non-karaoke tape. Also, of course, it won’t be able to put lyrics up on screen (did I mention that it can do that?)

There’s a shop in Valley View Mall that sells nothing but karaoke CDs and machines (you also can rent machines there). I’m going to go shopping between now and then and see what they have - I’m sure they’ll have a Halloween collection.

Tempting Troy, but not that tempting. I’ll just stay beside her and when she laughs at y’all, she’ll fall over onto me. I’ll get plenty of the Feeling-of-Grace™ that way.

Jim

Don’t be hasty, Jim. You could get her drunk and suggest a duet of “Endless Love”… you could probably get away with kissing a drunk woman after she sang that song.

Happy Anniversary Chef Troy and Mrs. Chef.

P.S. What amazing gift did you come up with?

A tone deaf adam suddenly realizes that he will be busy for every forthcoming DFW doper get together.

Check out the “tsushin karaoke” machines, if they have em. For years, the advanced karaoke machines have rated your performance with a score. Then some bright guy got the idea to hook up the machines to the internet so people could compete against each other.

What do you folks think of this idea?

She LOOOOOOVES the band They Might Be Giants. In fact she has a t-shirt they signed before they got famous. I see in today’s paper that they’re playing Dallas next week - and I’d bet the farm she has NO idea they’re coming to town.

I realize it’s not enough, I’ll need to get her something to unwrap too, but how about getting tix to the show?

Oooh, Cheffie, if my boyfriend got me tickies for my most favorite band in the whole world, he would be the one I unwrapped.

I got the tix… and I wrote her a poem.

(it sucks… poetry is the one kind of writing I’m not good at. However, it’s mainly there to deliver a message.)

Here it is:

So whaddya think?

::sniff::

[tearily]That’s so beautiful[/tearily]

Hmm, as a newbie to the SDMB and a resident of DFW I’m not sure if this is a plus or a minus for being part of the DFW doper community. I’m trying to decide if I want to be an active member of the DFW Adams family.

Here is the minus, I completely abhor karaoke. Part of that might be due to being a classically trained vocalist who has had an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall(passed it up because I couldn’t afford to take the wife and kid along). Part of it may be because of the stigma that karaoke is something that you have to be drunk to enjoy and I don’t drink.

Of course your romantic poetry and interest in TMBG is a big plus and it sounds like you are a nice guy with a good relationship with your wife. Any interest in new and exciting things and being open to new activities like cultural foods and the arts is a plus as well. I generally get along much better with neophytes(people who enjoy new ideas and experiences) than with neophobes(people who are afraid of new ideas or experiences). As a nice guy(and neophyte) myself I believe we would get along swimmingly in other, non-karaoke, aspects and the other DFW dopers I have seen seem interesting as well. What to do, what to do.

Steven

Steven - we’ll only be infli… I mean entertained with karaoke when we go to Cheffie’s house. And drinking isn’t a necessary part of the festivities, either. I know you can’t come to Hawkwood, but we will probably have something else soon.

I think you did great. Hearty congratulations on a wonderful anniversary to you both.

Don’t forget there’s a semi-planned outing for the State Fair. That’s a family event! Cheffie brought Mrs. Chef and Chef Jr. to the fair last year. You can bring Mrs. Mtgman and Mtgchild too.

Hmm, that sounds interesting. I could bring MoxMaiden and the expansion sets(I swear if you know what my name is taken from you’re either snickering or groaning). Have I been added to the DFW Adams family mailing list? I haven’t seen anything about this outing.

Steven

Groaning, although MoxMaiden sounds like a real gem.

Maybe if you show up to one of the gatherings  we could play a game or two. I’m a total rookie, but I’ve got a decent collection. I’ll also bring sandwiches and earplugs.

I wa about to say . . . “Cheffie, what about giving her YOU to unwrap?”

I did that too, after the wine-tasting dinner at which we each had a prodigious amount of wine. grin

Oh, and the TMBG tix were a BIG hit.
