Haircut

I just had a haircut about six months ago, but I reckoned it was time for another one. It gets all wavy when it gets long. So I went down to Super Sluts and got a #2 buzz on the side and a #4 on top. (NB: A #4 shoe on the clippers is 1/2".)

Roomie asked if it’s more comfortable now. ‘Yes,’ I said. ‘Do you like it?’ She laughed and said, ‘It’s short!’ I guess I have my answer! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m way overdue for a haircut myself. It’s been a good four months. It never ceases to amaze me that my barber always remembers my preferred cut. Maybe tipping well helps.

Bri2k

I’m overdue also. I was going to go to the barber before vacation, but ran out of time. Then, when I got back, the lady I prefer cut her hand and could not cut hair. Last weekend was out because I was busy with hobby-related things out of town.

I’m really hoping to get it taken care of this weekend as I am beginning to look truly silly.

Hubby gets his hair cut every 6-8 months, whether it needs it or not. It needs it now. He goes to a local barbershop run by two really old guys. His treat for going is a shave. He loves that.

I was going to have it cut a couple of weeks ago at this creepy little place. It’s old, dusty, crap all over the place, and the barbers look ready for retirement. There was a guy ahead of me. When the barber was finished the guy said, ‘I wanted it spiked. That’s what I came in here for.’ The old barber says, ‘Oh, I hate spikes!’ I suddenly remembered that I’d forgotten something and left.

Well, Johnny, let’s see it!

Nah. I got my hair cut, and now I’m too weak to pick up a camera.

Best answer ever.

I like the scooter-chair parked by the window, nowhere near a door…

The lot next to the shop is pretty crowded. I thought maybe the barber parked the chair there because there wasn’t room by the door, and used his walker to get inside.

I usually get a #4 all the way around every six months or so. No fuss, no bother.

I bought a set of Wahl clippers and cut my own about every week and a half. #2 on the sides and #3 on the top. Takes about 4 minutes and all done. I saved the cost of the clippers in the first three months.

I’ve thought of shaving my own head with a #4, but I like the shorter sides. I’d have no clue how to do that myself. Not without practice, anyway, and that might be comical.

Sorry about the about quoted part - I have no idea how the letters de-capitalized themselves. I cut and pasted.

Sigh. I’d love to have short hair, but would never be able to go that long between cuts! Does male hair grow slower or something??

We’re technically not allowed posts that are all capitals here - you have to fudge it by putting in a non-capitalized character.

I got about six inches of my hair cut off a little while ago - I tried to get an actual style, but it didn’t work out. I’m going back to my usual style - just a regular layered cut. And no damned razor cutting - my hair looks terrible when it’s razor cut. I’m not sure why; it’s not curly and not straight - it’s got natural bend, and I think the razor cutting just makes the bends go wrong.

So does Littlebro’s; usually he goes to the barber as soon as the wave starts appearing timidly. A while back he decided to let it grow longer than usual, out of curiosity. It never really got to the point where most people here would consider it long, simply because of the wave (and later, the curl) making it look shorter than it actually was. If you grabbed a strand from the back and pulled it straight then yes, it went below his neckline.

Eventually he decides to end the experiment and goes to his usual barber, who grabs a lock and says “well, you evidently didn’t switch to a different barber! The usual, or are you going Rock Star?”

Add me to the “once every six months … or so …” club.

These days I work at home, so I can attend all kinds of meetings and do my stuff in paint-spattered shorts and a ratty T-shirt and no one cares. My haircuts are usually encouraged by the occasional trip out West to visit my mother.

Last month I had to attend a meeting at the mothership in Manhattan, so I made a special exception for that and got a nice trim.

I still don’t like it too short: I wore a flattop for a couple of years, but I saw pictures of myself and realized that a flattop makes me look mean (I’m not).
